Position Summary
This position will serve as a Clinical Research Data Coordinator within the within the University of North Carolina Kidney Center and the Department of Medicine's Division of Nephrology & Hypertension. For this position, 'research data' encompasses biospecimens (i.e. blood, urine, stool) and quantitative data. The position will help oversee the clinical research biospecimen and data repositories of the UNC Kidney Center and Glomerular Disease Collaborative Network. This position will be responsible for biospecimen processing at our outpatient nephrology clinics and coordinating shipment of samples to campus. This position will assist with the management of our on-call freezer system with rotating personnel. This position has the capacity to supervise work study students and temporary employees. The Clinical Research Data Coordinator is responsible for research data management for a variety of complex clinical research protocols, including leading efforts in compiling, verifying, managing, and reporting data. The Clinical Research Data Coordinator also conducts various quality assurance and quality control efforts to ensure the accuracy of research data. The Clinical Research Data Coordinator is expected to use considerable judgement and research skills to carry out data-based research tasks.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Must be able to use considerable judgement and skills in performing work assignments. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to work and communicate with diverse populations effectively and professionally. Ability to work independently as well as function as part of a team. The candidate should have a working knowledge of REDCap, Microsoft Access, or other similar database software and be able to develop strategies to extract stored data and connect data across multiple individual research projects.

The role requires an organized, detail-oriented, and flexible individual, capable of managing competing priorities. Must be able to establish goals and objectives for management of research and clinical data associated with biorepository samples. The successful candidate will have technical skill and experience in isolation of DNA, RNA, serum, and plasma from human blood and be able to provide advice, supervision and training in these procedures.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Research experience in clinic/hospital-based settings and/or in the community is beneficial. Experience with shipping biospecimens to collaborating institutions and experience managing biosample repositories are preferred.

Special Physical/Mental Requirements
The ability to traverse between the research laboratory and the nephrology clinic located at the Ambulatory Care Clinic and patient areas of UNC Hospitals (about 0.5 miles) several times a week Is necessary.
