Job Summary
The School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture ( APLA) at Auburn University, a comprehensive land-grant and research institution, invites applications for the position of Instructional Technology Manager.

The School of Architecture, Planning, and Landscape Architecture ( APLA) has 118-year history of educating architects, interior architects, landscape architects, and planners. The school contributes to the region and to the profession through the outreach, scholarship, and creative work of its students and employees. APLA includes four allied disciplines: Architecture, Interior Architecture, Environmental Design, and Landscape Architecture, and it offers both bachelor's and master's degree options. APLA resides in the College of Architecture, Design and Construction along with the School of Industrial and Graphic Design and the McWhorter School of Building Science.

APLA operates instruction and fabrication facilities in multiple locations. The primary location is in Dudley Hall, the facility is comprised of multi-use and multi-modal instructional spaces, 7 classrooms, 21 dedicated design studios and faculty workspaces. The school prioritizes making as a means of instruction and learning and operates output hubs (2d and 3d printing), an immersive design and visualization lab and a wood shop and digital fabrication facility (cnc router and large format laser cutters). Secondary locations served by APLA IT staff include Urban Studio, Rural Studio Campus, and the CADC Research Commons. The IT team supports over 75 employees and over 800 students across these locations.

The school seeks candidates who are interested in supporting and advancing the school's tradition of classroom and field-based teaching and learning. Candidates should have a strong interest and experience in design-technology and an interest in design education and/or practice.

The successful candidate for this position will manage instructional and information technology services in support of faculty or outreach programs to provide technology-enhanced delivery of instruction and fabrication. Interpersonal communication skills are critical in this position.
Essential Functions

  • Providing leadership and initiative in the identification, evaluation, recommendation, design, development and deployment of instructional technology.
  • Collaborating with faculty, staff, department heads, architects, OIT, and others as appropriate on the concept and scope of multimedia or instructional technology projects.
  • Management of projects involving coordination with own team members as well as OIT, Facilities, Telecommunications, or others.
  • Managing budgets and expenditures related to instructional technology.
  • Develops and delivers training classes or workshops to faculty and staff in use of instructional multimedia technologies to support instructional objectives.
  • Develops operational processes and standards for instructional technology programs, investments, and activities.
  • Serving as point of contact for Instructional Technology department.
  • Supervision of full-time IT personnel and student workers both on campus and remote.

Minimum Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 10 years experience in developing, installing and/or supporting the use of instructional technologies.

OR

Master's degree and 5 years experience in developing, installing and/or supporting the use of instructional technologies.

Substitutions Allowed for Experience: appropriate education may be applied toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.

Typical salaries are between $78,550 - $95,080
Full grade range $62,010 - $111,620

Knowledge of the capability and uses of various multimedia systems, distance learning systems, and audio visual systems.

Knowledge and experience supporting both Apple OS and Windows OS environments. Experience working with designers or design students (students who utilize 2d and 3d visualization software and hardware).
