About the role

We are looking for aSenior Geometto join the Kennecott Technical Services team. This role would provide critical support in the effort to ensure the integrity and availability of ore body information related to throughput, recovery, and concentrate quality - both in the ore body and stockpiles. This role is highly multidisciplinary and will work with teams across the full value stream to maximize benefit and minimize risks as it relates to the ore body.

Reporting to the Manager - Concentrator Technical, you will:

  • Work in a safe manner and promote a safety culture through company programs
  • Interact with Geologists, Mine Planners, Metallurgists, Lab Personnel, and others to understand ore characteristics and performance in downstream plants.
  • Perform regular QA/QC on data collected, and validate this data for loading into databases for use in modeling systems
  • Analyze Near Infrared (NIR) blasthole data and support the upkeep of a NIR calibration model
  • Coordinate and conduct statistical analysis on ore body performance through the Mill * Perform special projects as required
  • Produce and update Metallurgical tables used for production planning
  • Support the collection of various samples to be analyzed and metallurgically tested
  • Support the Mining/Metallurgical team on special projects as required

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • A Bachelor's of Science Degree in Geology, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • 5 + years of work experience in a mining environment, preferably porphyry copper
  • Experience with data analysis
  • Understanding of geologic data (lithology, mineralization, alteration, etc.) and metallurgical data (recovery, throughput) is preferred
  • Ability to work in multi-functional and multi-disciplinary teams and deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Able to conduct rigorous statistical analysis on plant performance
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • 3D modeling program experience desirable (Minesight, Vulcan)
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the organization.
