ABOUT YOUR ROLE Under guidance of the Credit management, perform analysis of commercial loan requests and borrower information including but not limited to financial analysis, operating performance, industry trends and economic conditions to make initial assessment of credit worthiness. Provide analysis detail and written summaries that facilitate and support the assignment of credit risk rating. Document any deviations from the Commercial Loan Policy as appropriate.


WHAT YOU WILL DO LIST
Under minimal guidance and direction, perform detailed credit analysis of commercial loan requests and borrower information, including financial statements synopsis, management profiles, business and product cycles, cash flow and trends, operating analysis and debt service calculation. Loan relationships generally include multiple facility companies and moderately complex collateral relationships within more common industries.
With direction, conduct preliminary assessment of credit worthiness of borrower; review historical operating performance and research economic and market conditions as they relate to the borrower's company and industry. Research industry specific information from outside sources, which may include industry publications, area libraries, references from other banks, credit agencies, and internet searches and information sites.
Perform analysis of secondary sources of repayment such as collateral; assess the quality and source of collateral being pledged and apply an appropriate discount factor to determine an estimation of collateral marketability in a liquidation scenario.
Perform analysis of a guarantor's financial position and construct personal net cash flow through investigation of personal financial statements, personal tax returns and credit reporting documentation. Develop an understanding of any contingent liabilities and prepares summary.
Assist in the preparation of the initial assessment that summarizes key strengths and risks and includes identification of any deviations from the Bank's Commercial Loan policy.
Under guidance of senior commercial lending team, become familiar with alternative structures in order to reduce credit risk.
Assign a credit risk rating.
Prepare comprehensive written analyses for loan proposals including summary of financial statements, cash flow trends, management profiles, business and product cycles, operating performance and appropriate economic and market research. Assist in evaluating risk rating and provide input to revision recommendations.
Prepare in-depth loan package with detailed analysis and recommendations for presentation to reviewers and/or Management Credit Committee. Attend Management Credit Committee to provide input on overall assessment and answer questions regarding their credit analysis as necessary.
Partner with lending team to conduct thorough annual reviews of current portfolio clients including review of financials, site visits, assessment of general business information and other factors that would be indicators of risk.
Ensure that all work is in compliance with applicable laws, regulations and company guidelines as detailed in company policies. Seek guidance from senior credit staff as necessary and appropriate to resolve potential issues.
Develop knowledge of Company and department systems, practices, and policies. Actively participate in training programs and opportunities to expand knowledge and analytical abilities.
Participate in special projects and performs additional duties as required.
Understands compliance with all regulations governing the banking industry, as well as agency guidelines and organization policies.
Understands the compliance requirements to ensure files are maintained in accordance with regulations.

WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU
Working knowledge of commercial lending process including demonstrated credit evaluation and underwriting ability, with ability to make independent credit assessments.
Knowledge of credit approval policy and process with the ability to accurately interpret lending policy and apply same to the management of the portfolio.
Knowledge of qualitative portfolio analytics and metrics with the ability to utilize automated and analytical tools and techniques.
Ability to identify and quantify business risks and the key drivers of risk and focus decisions accordingly.
Ability to understanding client industry and its general fit to portfolio parameters.
Working knowledge of banking regulations and laws governing commercial lending.
Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate financial analysis detail in a clear, concise manner.
Strong organizational skills with ability to set priorities in a multi-task environment and meet deadlines.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office with specific capability in Word and Excel.
Ability to maintain the confidentiality of credit and customer information.
Requirements
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or Economics, or equivalent related work experience.
2-5 years of experience in commercial credit lending environment with noted progressively responsible experience in credit evaluation, portfolio risk assessment and underwriting.

Internal contact with Lenders and Portfolio Manager.
External customer, prospect and referral source contacts.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Office environment. Ability to operate computer. Ability to communicate in order to exchange simple to complex information with individuals and groups. Ability to travel throughout Bank footprint.
