Job Description

Are you prepared to embrace a new opportunity at Danfoss? Danfoss Turbocor Compressors Inc, a pioneering technology firm located in Tallahassee, Florida, is in search of a Controls Engineer eager to thrive in a technically demanding environment. Our products consist of high-speed, oil-free refrigeration compressors that utilize magnetic bearings, variable speed direct drive, and advanced digital control technologies. The Controls Engineer in the R&D Lab will play a crucial role in aiding the design, implementation, testing, and maintenance of the test equipment used to validate our compressors. This position will report directly to the R&D Test Lab Manager.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:




  • Improve existing lab equipment for better efficiency and reliability.




  • Involved with design, implementation and verification of control systems for new test platforms (Software and Hardware).




  • Maintaining/enhancing software tools supporting daily operations.




  • Standardizing system designs.




  • Lead the group's version control policies and implementation.




  • Standardizing test procedures.




  • Supporting testing activities.



Background & Skills

Required Qualifications:




  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, preferably in: Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or Computer Engineering

  • Foundational knowledge of thermodynamics and heat transfer

  • Understanding of HVAC and refrigeration cycles

  • Basic knowledge of control systems

  • Strong hands-on skills and a willingness to learn new technologies

  • Proactive, self-motivated, and goal-oriented problem solver

  • Team-oriented with strong communication skill



Preferred Qualifications:



Practical experience or working knowledge in:



  • PLC programming

  • Text-based programming languages (C++, C#, Python, MATLAB)

  • LabView

  • Database technologies (e.g., T-SQL)

  • Version control systems (e.g., Git)

  • Data analysis and visualization tools

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

  • Well-organized with high attention to detail
