In the role of Solid Waste Project Manager/Planner, we'll count on you to:



  • Contribute towards the development of long-range waste management strategic plans for local governments and private companies
  • Research, identify, assess, and evaluate alternate diversion and disposal technologies and programs
  • Develop calculations and projections as needed
  • Support planning and approvals processes for a range of waste management facilities
  • Lead permitting efforts on facilities
  • Develop and lead public procurements including RFEI, RFQ, RFP
  • Assist in preparing project reports, memorandums, and presentations by knowing the receiving audience perspective
  • Foster client relationships through marketing and preparation of proposals for new projects
  • Incorporate strategic communications and engagement with multiple stakeholders
  • Lead and coordinate projects across California and the United States, collaborating with staff in our various offices or with strategic partners
  • Work on comparable, new, and exciting projects around HDR's network
  • Other duties as assigned #LI-JF1

Preferred Qualifications



  • Certified as TRUE Advisor and / or SWANA Zero Waste
  • Knowledge of Circular Economy and Extended Producer Responsibilities
  • Knowledge of Environmental Justice
  • Knowledge of Solid Waste Management Systems
  • Experience in general civil or environmental engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • 7 years related experience
  • A minimum of 2 years project management experience
  • Must have the ability to interact with various design teams, have excellent organizational, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions.
