Portfolio Advisory Group PAG is seeking an Associate who can provide portfolio/relationship management support to Advisor teams by focusing on client service, serving as a key liaison to areas supporting the PAG business including the Investment Strategy Group, Compliance, and Technology and assisting in managing the investment process of multi-asset class portfolios. The individual will be a main point of contact for teams with respect to supporting new business solicitations and managing general on-going client portfolio needs. Responsibilities will include responding to questions on the GS Wealth Services Investment platform, third party investments, the macroeconomic environment, conditions in the financial markets and reviewing portfolio performance. HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL
- Analyze and research investment securities on third party and Goldman Sachs' investment platform. Serve as a point person for GS Wealth Services advisors to explain investment implementation options and their role in the strategic asset allocation.
- Coach/mentor and educate analysts with financial markets and macroeconomics concepts.
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with GS Wealth Services' internal stakeholders and team.
- Perform portfolio reviews and provide analytical support to GS Wealth advisors in the construction and maintenance of multi asset class portfolios.
- Explain investment implementation options to GS Wealth Services advisors including individual equities/bonds, mutual funds, options, private equity, hedge funds and separately managed accounts.
- Conduct quantitative research in factor-based strategic portfolio asset allocation and analysis across asset classes.
- Independently create research publications on complex macroeconomic and investment topics for GS Wealth Services advisors and clients.
- Foundation in financial mathematics and investment performance reporting.
- Utilize statistical and regression analysis to analyze investment options and financial markets.
- Respond to questions from GS Wealth Services advisors relating to economic and financial market views, client portfolios allocation and performance.
- Work with the engineering team to create efficiencies by automating processes, improve data quality and create portfolio monitoring tools across various platforms including Excel, FactSet, Morningstar, Bloomberg and internal systems.
- Obtain research on investment products from portfolio management teams and liaise with product groups to coordinate investment platform updates.
- Maintains spreadsheets, records, reviews and reports for client portfolios.
- Keep abreast of the latest events in financial markets
- Work in conjunction with various product groups within the Asset and Wealth Management Division to respond to client needs
- Serve as a key liaison to other areas supporting the PAG business including Legal, Compliance, and Technology
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE'RE LOOKING FOR/ QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum Bachelor's degree (U.S. or equivalent)
- Related financial services experience of 4 - 6 years
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of financial markets
- Must be comfortable presenting to audiences of varying sizes and sophistication
- Strong interpersonal/leadership skills and a passion to engage with advisors and clients
- Distilling advanced macroeconomic and capital market concepts in an easy to digest written format for client use.
- The ability to effectively explain a firm's macroeconomic analysis views to guide multi-asset class portfolio construction.
- Perform Equity Market, Fixed Income and Alternatives analysis to explain the risks and merits of different offerings in the marketplace and how they fit into multi-asset class portfolios.
- Analyze strategic asset allocation. Assisting advisors and clients to assess a client's risk tolerance, time horizon
- and investment objectives to construct a well-diversified portfolio.
- Strong knowledge of Excel, FactSet, Morningstar and Bloomberg to analyze return data and conduct data transformations to create original publications.
- Detail orientation, patience, and demonstrated ability to multi-task under pressure.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and think clearly under pressure
- Collaborative and team-oriented
- Highly proficient in Windows Technology (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Ability to foster a strong network of relationships with numerous colleagues and desks across the Firm
- Series 7 and 63 required; obtaining CFA Charter highly encouraged and will be sponsored in accordance with firm policy
- Analyzing and interpreting data using statistical modeling software and presenting results to stakeholders.
- Performing valuation analysis for equities and debt using commonly acceptable valuation methodologies
WHERE YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT The GS Ayco Portfolio Management Group business covers clients located throughout the United States. No travel is required for this position SALARY RANGE: The expected base salary for this Albany, New York, United States-based position is $60,000 to $100,000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
