Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) Level 2

Position Summary
DarkStar Intelligence is seeking an Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) for a position at Fort Meade, MD with an active Top Secret/SCI clearance and Full-Scope Polygraph. The Information Systems Security Engineer(ISSE) shall perform, or review, technicalsecurity assessments of computing environments
to identify points of vulnerability, non- compliance with established InformationAssurance (IA) standards and regulations and recommend mitigation strategies. Validates andverifies system security requirements definitionsand analysis and establishes system securitydesigns. Designs, develops, implements and/orintegrates IA and security systems and systemcomponents including those for networking,computing, and enclave environments to includethose with multiple enclaves and with differingdata protection/classification requirements.Builds IA into systems deployed to operationalenvironments. Assists architects and systemsdevelopers in the identification andimplementation of appropriate informationsecurity functionality to ensure uniformapplication of Agency security policy andenterprise solutions. Supports the building of
security architectures. Enforce the design andimplementation of trusted relations amongexternal systems and architectures. Assesses andmitigates system security threats/risks throughoutthe program life cycle. Contributes to the securityplanning, assessment, risk analysis, riskmanagement, certification and awarenessactivities for system and networking operations.Reviews certification and accreditation (C&A)documentation, providing feedback oncompleteness and compliance of its content.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Participate as a security engineering representative on engineering teams for the design,development, implementation and/or integration of secure networking, computing, and enclaveenvironments
  • Participate as a security engineering representative on engineering teams for the design,development, implementation and/or integration of IA architectures, systems, or system components
  • Participate as the primary security engineering representative on engineering teams for thedesign, development, implementation, evaluation, and/or integration of secure networking,computing, and enclave environments
  • Apply knowledge of IA policy, procedures, and workforce structure to design, develop, andimplement secure networking, computing, and enclave environments
  • Interact with the customer and other project team members
  • Participate as the primary security engineering representative on engineering teams for thedesign, development, implementation, evaluation, and/or integration of IA architectures, systems, orsystem components
  • Support the Government in the enforcement of the design and implementation of trustedrelationships among external systems and architectures
  • Support security planning, assessment, risk analysis, and risk management
  • Identify overall security requirements for the proper handling of Government data
  • Provide security planning, assessment, risk analysis, and risk management
  • Perform system or network designs that encompass multiple enclaves, to include those withdiffering data protection/classification requirements
  • Recommend system-level solutions to resolve security requirements
  • Support the Government in the enforcement of the design

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Fourteen (14) years' experience as an ISSE on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and
    complexity is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Assurance, InformationSecurity System Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
  • DoD 8570.01-M compliance with IASAE Level 2 is required CISSP Certification is required.
  • Four (4)years of ISSE experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree
Salary Range:
$150,000 - $165,000
This pay range is a general guideline and not a guarantee of specific compensation or salary. When extending an offer, DarkStar Intelligence considers various factors, including (but not limited to) the job's responsibilities, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, market data alignment, applicable bargaining agreements (if any), and other relevant laws.
