Position Summary:
- Experience with high cavitation close tolerance thermoplastic injection molds.
- Knowledge of hot runner systems as it relates to their design, fabrication, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of various tool steels, hardnesses and coatings used in the fabrication of injection molds.
- Knowledge of various plastic materials utilized to manufacture medical products.
- Knowledge of plastic part design for injection molding.
- Knowledge of software for MoldFlow and MoldCool analysis, 2D and 3D CAD skills.
Responsibilities: Essential Duties:
- Research, develop and prepare specifications for new injection mold projects and/or improvements to existing injection molds.
- Support projects by contributing to the development of project schedules, tracking costs, preparing status reports, conducting team meetings, and communicating issues and progress to management
- Prepare mold design concepts, preliminary layouts and mold component details.
- Coordinate mold design and construction of tools built by B.Braun vendors.
- Evaluate detailed mold design concepts for functionality and product impact.
- Approve designs and details by vendors and in-house drafters/technicians.
- Analyze part designs for moldability and make recommendations to improve concepts.
- Prepare in-house quotations and acquire vendor quotations.
- Assist in debugging the function and cycling of molds prior to releasing the mold to manufacturing.
- Design gages, fixtures, or other miscellaneous devices for manufacturing.
- Interact with other BBM departments such as QE, QC, Product Engineering, Manufacturing, etc. to validate tooling and trouble shooting existing products.
- Research, develop, and prepare specifications for improvements to existing and/or new products, processes, equipment, and technology.
- Support projects by contributing to the development of project schedules, teams, tracking costs, preparing status reports, conducting team meetings, and communicating issues and progress to management.
- Prepare Request Capital Investments including project description, schedule, and costs.
- Supervise and direct contract personnel and outside vendors in the performance of contracted services.
- Provide leadership and guidance to subordinates within the Engineering organization.
- Provide direction and technical decision making for management involving capital asset purchases and expenses for projects and/or strategic initiatives involving up to $2MM (capital/expense/revenue potentials).
- Prepare and present technical investigative reports to middle level management.
- Moderate to high degree of both internal and external personnel interfaces.
- Preparation of specifications and protocols for the development, testing, and qualification of equipment, processes, and products.
- Communicate, both verbally and written, project activities to supervisor.
- Develops, evaluates and improvesindustrial manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods and quality control standards.
- Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
- Estimates production times, staffing requirements and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
- Communicates manufacturing capabilities, production schedules or other information to facilitate production processes.
- Confers with vendors in order to determine specifications of products and arrange equipment, material purchase and parts.
- Evaluates products based on specifications and quality standards.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. - Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Target Base Range: $81,392 - $101,740
The targeted range for this role takes into account a range of factors that are considered when making compensation and hiring decisions; included but not limited to: skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The range provided is a reasonable estimate. B.
