Location: NAS Patuxent River, MD

Security Clearance Requirement: Top Secret with SCI eligibility

Telework Eligible? Yes. Position will be based at NAS Patuxent River - candidate will need to live with driving distance of this location as some on-base presence will be required.

The MPR AAS NFO will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) supporting the AST Program Office in the development and maintenance of Naval Aviation Technical Information Products (NATIP) for the Advanced Airborne Sensor (AAS) and Tactical Airborne Sensor (TAS).

This role can be based at NAS Jacksonville, FL; NAS Patuxent River, MD; or JBAB Washington, DC.

Key duties include:

  • Serving as a technical writer and SME to update NATIP content and maintain permanent flight clearances for AAS and TAS deliveries.
  • Collaborating with Fleet representatives (MPRWS), Developmental Test (DT), and Operational Test (OT) teams to support current and future capability development.
  • Reviewing software design documentation for accuracy and technical completeness.
  • Participating in the P-8A Software Defect Review Board and contributing to software issue resolution.
  • Tracking, classifying, and reporting software defects, and advising Navy leadership on priority fixes and performance improvements.
  • Supporting the design and refinement of the Operator-Machine Interface (OMI) for the P-8A mission system.
  • Editing NATIP content using Arbortext Editor (training can be provided-prior experience is not required).
  • Performing additional duties as required by the government customer.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum 8 years of P-8A NFO operational experience.
  • Direct experience with the Advanced Airborne Sensor (AAS).
  • Demonstrated Fleet Support Unit (FSU) or Detachment Dallas experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS) experience.
  • NATOPS instructor/evaluator designation.
  • Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance Weapons School (MPRWS) Instructor or WTI qualification.

  • This position requires U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility. Selected candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Salary Range:
