Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
Carolina Public Humanities (
CPH) is the public outreach arm of the College of Arts and Sciences.
CPH organizes public programs on humanities-related themes for lifelong learners, runs teacher outreach activities through our subsidiary Carolina K12, and builds partnerships with community colleges around North Carolina. Our mission is to bring scholarship and faculty from
UNC-CH to various communities throughout the state including public audiences, K12 teachers, alumni, civic leaders and community college students and faculty. We help fulfill the broader university mission of being 'of the public and for the public' and contribute humanistic knowledge and perspectives that help make the
UNC the University for North Carolina. |
Position Summary |
The Marketing and Registration Specialist (
MRS) will assist with the marketing and publicity for Carolina Public Humanities (
CPH), and secure places for participants in its public programs.
The
MRS will distribute content for all CPH's social media platforms and assist the Media and Publicity Team. As a member of the
CPH Programming Team, the
MRS will work closely with colleagues to assist in developing long and short-term marketing goals and publicity campaigns to promote
CPH public, K12, State Outreach, and Civic Education programs and projects. With input from
CPH staff and partners from collaborating organizations, the
MRS will implement creative and sustained media campaigns to amplify CPH's brand recognition and inspire community members to participate in its programs.
As leader of the Media and Publicity Team, the
MRS will maintain
CPH media file libraries and collaborate with
CPH staff to develop printed materials including season brochures, flyers, and other materials.
The
MRS will also dedicate a portion of its time to registering participants in
CPH events. It will work with
CPH colleagues to develop simplified and efficient registration platforms for future programs. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
The
MRS should be familiar with using all major social media platforms and have experience producing and distributing content on them. The
MRS would preferably have experience running social media and marketing campaigns for arts or educational organizations. They should have broad multi-platform social media expertise, familiarity with video recording and editing technology, ability to generate and manipulate computerized images and photos.
For the registrations part of the job, the
MRS will need to have good organizational skills, familiarity with the most common office applications (word, excel, PowerPoint, etc.), and be detail oriented. Familiarity with Google Forms, Qualtrics, and other forms of online registering would be ideal. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
A candidate with an understanding of the academic community, and who has a personal interest in the humanities and liberal arts will enjoy this job and be an asset to
CPH. Preferred candidate will be familiar with working in higher education. |
