Description

Aircraft mechanic II Services, repairs, and overhauls aircraft to ensure airworthiness. Repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures such as wings, fuselage, surface controls and functional components to include rigging, plumbing and hydraulic units utilizing hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet guns and drills as required to assist Aircraft Mechanics. Reads and interprets manufacturer's publications, maintenance manuals, service bulletins and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. Inspects airframe components for fluid leaks, cracks, and other damage. Troubleshoot, removal, replacement, and repair of aircraft structural and hydraulic system components. Perform miscellaneous duties to service aircraft systems. Shall be able to correctly prioritize workload to maintain schedules and maintenance standards on assigned projects.

Essential Job Functions:

Services, repairs and overhauls aircraft to ensure airworthiness. Removes/installs canopies, ejection seats, performs periodic maintenance of all cockpit egress and life support systems of moderate difficultly, such as seats, canopies, CADs, heating/cooling systems, utilizing hand tools. Read and interprets manufacturer's publications, maintenance manuals, service bulletins and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. Inspects airframe components for cracks and other damage. Troubleshoot, remove, replace and repair egress and life support system components. Performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft systems. Will be certified as a CDI.

Minimum Education and Experience Required:



  • Candidate experience must be clearly defined on resumes by listing specific dates (month & year) and locations of relevant experience.
  • Must have completed the Navy/Marine Corps Class "C" School in position-specific T/M/S aircraft billet, or Air Force/Army (5 years organizational level experience on the applicable position specific T/M/S aircraft may be substituted for the Class "C" school.)
  • Must have DOD approved Corrosion control (N-701-0013) / Aircraft paint touch up and markings (N-701-0014)
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must have a current secret level clearance and be able to maintain it.
  • Must be available to work any shift.
  • Travel may be required.
