Supports the Facility Maintenance Manager or Senior Manager in designated facilities by developing recommended optimal schedules for Preventative Maintenance, Corrective Maintenance and related project work on the material handling system, facility (building and FedExs) and by developing improvement recommendations to maintenance processes. Essential Functions
- Understands and keeps current a comprehensive asset inventory of all material handling and facility assets requiring preventative and corrective maintenance.
- Understands, plans and refines the proper preventative and corrective maintenance scheduling and tasks for each asset and the estimated work effort and time to complete these tasks based on the number and location of assets, critical nature of each asset, estimated work effort and time required to complete and the available maintenance windows.
- Plans the scheduling of sort support coverage to properly support day-to-day hub operations when necessary.
- Plans scheduling of maintenance projects (including business continuity tests) to be performed by maintenance based on the complexity of the project, available maintenance window and critical nature of the project.
- Plans and coordinates the scheduling and work of third-party vendor providing preventative and corrective maintenance on all assets.
- Plans the scheduling of inventory reconciliation program tasks to ensure compliance with FedEx maintenance process requirements .
- Develops recommendations for maintenance process improvements of the facility's maintenance department.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education
- High school diploma required, Associate's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field is preferred.
Minimum Experience Eight (8) years (or 6 years with preferred degree) of progressive light industrial maintenance experience (including maintenance support) with:
- Advanced in-depth understanding of mechanical power transmission and/or fabrication with basic commercial/industrial electrical experience. OR
- Advanced in-depth commercial/industrial electrical experience with basic mechanical power transmission and/or fabrication experience. OR
- Advanced in-depth production or process machinery experience with basic mechanical and/or commercial/industrial experience. AND
- One (1) year demonstrated experience leading maintenance-related project teams.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Software skills, including use of Microsoft Office software and web-based applications.
- Ability to follow detailed instruction to complete routine procedures and operate standard equipment.
- In depth knowledge of mechanical design, layout, fabrication and repair practices as they apply to power transmission and conveyor belt applications.
- In depth knowledge of motors and motor control methods.
- Basic skills in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting techniques.
- Basic understanding of PLC (Programmable Logic Controller)
- Basic understanding of the scanner system.
- Knowledge of skill and time required for each asset for scheduling the preventative and corrective maintenance.
- Verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate with all levels of management.
- Time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills necessary to work in a fast-paced environment, handling various tasks and changing priorities, while maintaining a high attention to detail and accuracy to achieve daily assignments and goals.
- Ability to anticipate and identify problems and use sound judgment and fact-based analysis to develop effective and efficient solutions.
- Ability to mentor, coach and act as a knowledge resource to other employees.
- Ability to read and create electrical and mechanical schematic diagrams.
- General business skills such as typing, data entry, document review, phone, copier, fax.
- Software skills, including use of Microsoft Office software and web-based applications.
- Customer service skills necessary to effectively and professionally respond to requests.
