Responsibilities
Quantum Control Systems Architect Overview: Keysight Technologies' Quantum Engineering Solutions (QES) division is seeking a visionary and technically exceptional Quantum Control Systems Architect to lead the design of next-generation quantum control systems. QES delivers state-of-the-art solutions across the quantum ecosystem, including quantum computing, quantum communications, and quantum sensing. This is a high-impact, expert-level role where you will define and architect scalable digital quantum control systems (QCS) that enable R&D and production-level systems from a few qubits, to advantage scale systems with tens of thousands of qubits, to fault-tolerant systems with hundreds of thousands or even millions of qubits. You will work at the intersection of R&D, business development, and customer success, influencing product roadmaps and enabling breakthrough quantum experiments and commercial deployments for some of the most advanced quantum computing organizations in the world.
Qualifications
Key Responsibilities:
- Define the vision and architecture for scalable, high-performance quantum control systems targeting 10,000+ qubits, while balancing miniaturization, reliability, and precision.
- Lead technical engagement with key and strategic customers, demonstrating thought leadership through proof-of-principle experiments and control system design.
- Translate customer requirements into robust system-level designs in collaboration with internal R&D, firmware, and hardware teams.
- Represent QES as the expert for quantum control systems in customer engagements, supporting the business development and field teams on global quantum opportunities.
- Collaborate with product marketing to generate technical content, including reference implementations, application notes, and domain-specific user guides.
- Stay at the forefront of scalable quantum computation and control system trends, incorporating the latest advances into product strategy.
- Provide mentorship and technical leadership to junior engineers and physicists on the team.
Required Qualifications:
- MS or PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Deep expertise in quantum hardware, with a focus on superconducting and/or neutral atom qubit platforms.
- Proven experience architecting and building embedded control systems that include AWGs, DC sources, and digitizers for quantum or similar high-performance applications.
- Systems design experience across rack, chassis, board, and signal chain
- Strong understanding of real-time digital signal processing using FPGAs.
- Familiarity with high-performance compute environments, hybrid computing, and data center infrastructure.
- Proficiency in Python for control, orchestration, or data analysis workflows.
- Exceptional analytical, troubleshooting, and system debugging capabilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong documentation habits.
- Strong organizational and coordination skills; capable of managing complex, multidisciplinary projects.
