What is the Opportunity?

As an Associate Director, Lead Software Developer within the Business & Client Services Technology team, you will play a key role in developing and delivering innovative solutions that drive the transformation and modernization of RBC and Broadridge U.S. systems integration. This includes maintaining the latest and standard Tech Currency requirements for all of the systems in the portfolio. In this high-impact role, you will work across the full software development lifecycle, collaborating with cross-functional teams to design, build, test, and deploy scalable and efficient applications. Your contributions will directly support the organization's strategic goals by enhancing operational efficiency, ensuring compliance, and enabling future growth through cutting-edge technology solutions.

What will you do?

  • Work closely with business and other stakeholders to really understand the BCS business, fixed income and equity trades and settlements processing changes, lead application architecture vision and implement the technical solution.

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalablefront-end andback-endapplications with a focus on high performance and user experience.

  • Manage Offshore Malaysian developers that will provide support for Tech Currency and other lights development.

  • Collaborate with the broader technology group to converge on best practices, adopt reusable frameworks and components and contribute to building further reusable assets.

  • Solve technical challenges creatively and independently, delivering clean, maintainable, and efficient code.

  • Contribute to the team's success bycoaching junior developers, sharing technical expertise, and performing code reviews.

  • Actively participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives to align on team goals.

  • Develop and execute automated tests to ensure quality and reliability of code

  • In this role, you will communicate and interact frequently with RBC partners and/or employees located across U.S, Canada and worldwide

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

  • 8-10 years of experience as a Full Stack Developer with expertise in:

  • Front-end Development:Proficiency in Java, Open JDK, and Rabacus for building dynamic, responsive user interfaces.

  • Back-end Development:Strong experience with multiple databases and developing REST APIs for developing scalable, high-performance services.

  • Working knowledge of Fixed Income and Equities trade flows, Settlements processing, SWIFT, trade reporting for Compliance, and mark to market processing.

  • Experience integrating to Broadridge / DTCC / NASD Trace platforms

  • Previous experience managing offshore development team

  • Strong understanding of RDBMS (MSSQL, Sybase) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, ELK).

  • Extensive experience with messaging platforms like Solace, MQ, or similar technologies.

  • Hands-on experience with DevOps practices, including GITHUB. GIT Autopilot.

  • Strong knowledge of UNIX and Windows O/S.

  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift).

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and hands-on experience using tools like JIRA and Confluence.

  • Eagerness to share knowledge and mentor junior developers to promote best practices.

  • Experience building and supporting transactional and financial systems.

Nice-to-have

  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and distributed systems.

  • Exposure to event-driven architectures and distributed systems.

The expected salary range for this particular position is $135,000 - $225,000, depending on your experience, skills, and registration status, market conditions and business needs.

You have the potential to earn more through RBC's discretionary variable compensation program which gives you an opportunity to increase your total compensation, provided the business meets its performance targets and you meet your individual goals.
