Scope of Position The Environmental Services (EVS) Assistant Director is responsible for the operational oversight of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Centers EVS Departments day-to-day activities, inclusive of University Hospital, Brain and Spine, Ross Heart Hospital, and New Tower. This position will be responsible for the enactment of policies, planning, personnel, projects, designs and work that takes place to promote a cost effective, safe, clean, attractive, and comfortable environment. The Assistant Director ensures compliance with appropriate patient care and business practices, and is responsible to ensure that all areas, resources and equipment operate efficiently. The Assistant Director works to develop operating systems in collaboration with the EVS Director and leadership. This position collaborates with peers in various departments at the hospitals. The Assistant Director develops and implements effective cost reduction plans and implementation processes that support the hospitals and EVS Department goals, objectives, strategies, policies, and procedures; ensures cost reduction targets and productivity improvement objectives are met, while cultivating service/product quality and customer satisfaction; ensures the EVS Director is kept abreast of issues or problems impacting program efficiencies and effectiveness; attracts, develops and trains talent to ensure program quality, sustainability, long-term growth, and development; and leads by demonstrating an understanding of, and exemplifying the mission, vision and values of the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. The assistant director will help to develop and lead operational managers/supervisors and all staff. The assistant director will help to supervise approximatively 75-90 FTEs. Position Summary The assistant director reports to the Director of EVS and is responsible in ensuring the entire team of front-line managers receive the proper supervision, education, in-servicing, and support required to successfully perform assigned duties and responsibilities. The assistant director will also coordinate staffing and work with internal customers to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment. The assistant director will ensure that the department has the resources and equipment needed to function 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Minimum Qualifications For Hire: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience plus a minimum of 7 years of experience in healthcare, hospitality or institutional management required. Progressive experience in the housekeeping/Environmental services (EVS) field preferred. Ongoing: Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) certification must be obtained within two years of employment. |
