The opportunity

Position Overview:

Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented student to join our team as a Student Office Assistant. This on-campus position offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on professional experience in an administrative office setting. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, and eager to contribute to the day-to-day functions that keep the office running smoothly.

In this role, you will support various office operations, assist staff with projects, and serve as a welcoming presence for visitors and callers. This position is a great fit for students interested in careers in business, administration, event management, communications, or related fields.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administrative Support:
    Perform general office duties including photocopying, scanning, filing, shredding, data entry, and organizing materials. Assist with inputting information into the 25Live event scheduling platform.

  • Reception and Customer Service:
    Act as the first point of contact for office guests. Greet visitors in a professional and friendly manner, answer phone calls, take messages, and direct inquiries to appropriate staff.

  • Document and Record Management:
    Help maintain organized and confidential digital and paper filing systems. Prepare and label folders, update internal records, and ensure accurate document tracking.

  • Office and Equipment Upkeep:
    Ensure common areas, meeting rooms, and workstations are clean and tidy. Report maintenance needs and support basic troubleshooting for office equipment like printers, computers, and copiers.

  • Inventory and Supplies:
    Monitor office supplies and inventory. Notify staff of low stock and assist in placing and receiving orders for restocking.

  • Special Projects & Department Initiatives:
    Support department projects including outreach efforts, promotional tasks, social media content creation, and setup for client meetings. Assist with event logistics, office organization days, and internal communications.

  • Team Collaboration:
    Work closely with professional staff and fellow student workers to ensure tasks are completed accurately and efficiently. Provide input and creative ideas when applicable.

Required Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate day program at SNHU

  • Students with work study may be prioritized

    Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and comfort with basic computer tasks

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism

  • Dependable, punctual, and self-motivated

  • Ability to take initiative and work independently or in a team setting

  • Prior office or customer service experience is helpful but not required

Work Schedule:

The office is open from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Student Office Assistants will work part-time hours scheduled around their academic obligations. Flexibility during peak periods (such as event seasons) is appreciated.

Compensation

The hourly pay range for this position is $12.00 - $15.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations.
