Position Overview:The Technical Lead, Data Architect is a lead role responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust, scalable, and secure database solutions that support the organization's data-driven initiatives. This individual will work closely with cross-functional teams-including software engineering, data science, DevOps, and business stakeholders-to ensure data architecture aligns with business goals and technology standards.

This role is based in Thief River Falls, MN or Bloomington, MN

Onsite role requirement - Hybrid - follow the company policy of in office Monday and Wednesday Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement and test database architecture designs to accommodate the multimodal data types used in existing systems and/or technology evaluations

  • Design and develop efficient techniques for fast, optimized data access and transfer of distributed or cloud database systems

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior database engineers and developers

  • Design, implement and test data structures, data search, query, and retrieval solutions to enable access to and processing of data used in existing systems and/or technology evaluations

  • Research, design, implement and test SQL and NoSQL mechanisms to allow access to data across different scales and complex datasets

  • Design, implement and test frameworks to integrate algorithms and tools to accommodate analytics on multimodal structured and unstructured data sets, as well as APIs for data access, query, and retrieval

  • Design, implement and test tools to support processing of small and massive data sets of structured and unstructured compositions for analytics systems

  • Integrate algorithms and tools to accommodate processing of small or massive data sets of structured and unstructured compositions to support research activities in existing systems and/or technology evaluations

  • Monitor and tune database performance, proactively identifying and resolving bottlenecks

  • Stay current with emerging database technologies and trends to drive innovation and continuous improvement.

  • Ability to collaborate with solution Architects, Data Platform, Data Engineering, and Development teams

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field

  • 10+ years of experience in data architecture design and management

  • 10 years of experience and expertise in database and systems architecture design, development, and implementation.

  • 10 years of expertise and experience in data structures, indexing, query, and retrieval.

  • Excellent data management skills including ensuring data integrity, data access, security and archiving procedures; High level of proficiency in procedural, object-oriented, and Domain Driven Architecture

  • Experience with NoSQL, SQL databases (e.g., Oracle, Snowflake, MSSQL, MongoDB)

  • Experience with dimensional modeling, e.g., Kimball Star Schema modeling

  • Outstanding planning & Organizational skills

  • Able to work independently or collaboratively and maintain a positive attitude

  • Master level of analytical skills and attention to detail

  • Excellent communication skills and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's in science or advanced degree in Computer Science

Physical Requirements:
  • Work is primarily performed at a desk and/or in an office environment for 3/4 of the day and up

  • The office noise level in the work environment is typically, moderate

  • Generally, spend the workday sitting at a workstation and operating computer devices, such as, but not limited to keyboard, mouse, and screen

  • Generally, spend the workday performing repetitive motions that involve or affect the hands, head, and other parts of your body

Compensation:

The base pay range for this position is:

$125,000

to

$175,000

Many factors influence the determination of base pay within a range, including the candidate's work experience in related roles; the candidate's knowledge, skills, capabilities, and performance; the relative pay of other DigiKey employees in similar roles; and the budget available for the position.
