Position Summary |
The primary location of this position is the Cullowhee, NC campus.
The Embedded College Support for the College of Health & Human Sciences (
CHHS) serves as one of the main technical support resources for the College of Health and Human Sciences and the
CHHS building. This position reports, responds to, and resolves incidents, service requests, changes requests, and problems within
CHHS and collaborates with other Division of Information Technology (DoIT) staff to ensure seamless support for
CHHS faculty and staff. The position provides consultation and business relationship management functions between the
CHHS, DoIT, and related vendors.
The primary duties of this position are to coordinate all information technology support for instructional spaces, faculty/staff hardware and software repair, virtualization, and curriculum-specific departmental technologies. The position troubleshoots, evaluates, and requests service, and is often responsible for first-line responses regarding technology within the
HHS building. Position consults with other IT staff during decision-making processes for new equipment and systems development as relevant to
CHHS. This position is expected to participate in planning and future operations involving new facilities, operating systems, and application deployment and installation.
The position works with a wide range of clientele within the
CHHS, partnering with other embedded team members as well as the
CHHS Dean/leadership to assess and define business and user needs. The position ensures technology is appropriately installed or configured, and integrates with various technologies in classrooms and teaching labs to assist
CHHS with maintaining relevance and meeting accreditation needs as it relates to technology and support standards. This position assists in communicating and translating DoIT security standards, DoIT policy, and best practices on behalf of the DoIT.
Additional responsibilities include working with DoIT system administrators on planning, implementation, and roadmaps, exploring and planning future needs and general strategic planning in collaboration with the DoIT and the
CHHS. This position is regularly engaged in projects and professional development activities. |

Minimum Qualifications |
Graduation from a two year technical college with a major in an Information Technology field and one year in the information technology field related to the position's role; or graduation from a four year college or university and one year experience in the information technology field related to the position's role; or graduation from a four year college or university with a major in an Information Technology area. Related information technology experience may be substituted year for year for the required education. |
