Job Title: Software Engineer II (Cloud Solution Architect) Navy NIWC The Software Engineer II develops, maintains, and enhances complex software systems that solve customer and user problems. This role brings breadth across software development skills and depth in specific technologies like languages and frameworks that allows them to build effective software solutions. The Software Engineer II shares in the responsibility with other software engineers and team members to deliver maintainable solutions. The Impact You Will Create: Cloud Transition & Modernization: Move legacy systems to secure, scalable cloud environments with minimal disruption. Application Modernization: Refactor or re-platform outdated software to modern architectures. Program & Systems Engineering: Deliver PMO support, systems design, R&D, M&S, and software engineering. Cybersecurity Compliance: Ensure RMF/ATO, Zero Trust, and FedRAMP compliance across all systems. Data Integration & ETL: Provide automated ingestion and transformation of USMC data using tools like Apache NiFi and ECR. IT & Web Support: Ensure operational support, interface design, disaster recovery, and web application maintena Your Responsibilities in This Role: Organizational and Leadership Role * Coaches and mentors others to develop their professional skills. * Takes initiative for their own growth through personal leadership. Functional Role * Decomposes tasks into discrete objectives to serve the strategic direction of the team. * Builds software solutions with minimal direction in the form of maintainable code in accordance with the project/organization technical standards. * Delivers complete software solutions that function well within the full system including documentation and automated unit/integration tests. * Debugs existing software and corrects defects. * Performs manual exploratory testing individually and with the team, as appropriate for the project test strategy. * Advises the team on specific implementation options that meet business requirements. * Contributes actively in team Agile processes through collaboration, discussion, and/or preparation. * Provides feedback to improve the team's technical procedures Work Experience Skills and Qualifications We Require at Fearless: At Fearless, we seek candidates who blend technical know-how with sharp problem-solving and advisory skills to drive real impact in the communities we serve. Here are the key qualifications for this role. Three (3) years of professional experience with research, design, and development of computer and network software or specialized utility programs which may include database maintenance within an application area. Individual shall have experience applying programming concepts in a professional or academic setting and notable experience with applying modern software development methodologies (e.g. agile, DEVOPS/DEVSECOPS) in a professional or academic setting. Project Specific Qualifications: (remove this section if not applicable) This role includes additional qualifications to help us deliver bold, impactful work for our clients. Gathers requirements and designs Public, Private, and Hybrid Cloud-based system deployments and system transitions. Architecting and planning migrations to commercial cloud service providers such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure and Office 365, Google Cloud Platform, or similar cloud platforms. A Cloud Solution Architect 2 generally does not perform the actual implementation of the solution. The following types of tasks will be performed by the Cloud Solution Architect 1. a). Work with end users and application experts to elicit requirements for designing and deploying scalable, highly available, and fault tolerant systems in cloud-based environments b). Lift and shift planning for an existing on-premises application to cloud based systems c). Ingress and egress planning for data migration to and from cloud-based systems d). Selecting the appropriate cloud service based on data, compute, database, or security requirements e). Integration with on-premises enterprise networks and systems f). Identifying appropriate use of cloud architectural best practices g). Estimating cloud costs and identifying cost control mechanisms h). Providing technical clarity and direction to Cloud Education: Bachelor's degree in quantitative field such as engineering or mathematics (e.g. Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Information Systems); and shall possess Agile Developer certification or Certified Scrum Developer certification. Physical Requirements: Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer or during meetings. Must be able to travel occasionally to client sites or company meetings. Ability to communicate effectively via phone, email, and in-person, requiring clear speech, listening, and written communication skills. Ability to move within an office environment, including reaching for files, using office equipment, and occasional light lifting (up to 10 pounds).
