DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Custodial Worker 1, you will perform basic cleaning duties throughout the Delaware Valley Veterans' Home. Your duties will include mopping, vacuuming, and sweeping floors, as well as cleaning windows and dusting furniture. You will also ensure all waste is disposed of properly. You can expect to move furniture and equipment, help with snow removal, and clear debris from sidewalks. In this position, you will be responsible for cleaning patient rooms, bathrooms, offices, and recreation areas. Additionally, you will maintain a safe working environment and report all problems and unsafe conditions to the supervisor. Interested in learning more? - Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, including rotating days and weekends, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Willingness to work in Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania
- Willingness to work a full-time schedule
- Work experience as a custodian, janitor, or cleaning person in an assisted living facility, nursing home, or hospital is preferred. (Experience might include such things as cleaning restrooms; cleaning resident rooms, offices or public areas; mopping, scrubbing, dusting, sweeping, buffing, etc.)
- Experience interacting with patients or residents while cleaning in patient/resident rooms or a dining room setting
- Experience cleaning bodily fluids and disposing infectious waste into proper storage areas
- Experience removing snow, trash, and debris from sidewalks and entrance ways
- Experience using and mixing chemicals or solvents
- Experience using manual or power equipment to mop, scrub, sweep, strip, wax, and buff floors
- Experience working in the following environments: activity/recreation room, bathroom/shower room, cafeteria/dining room, entranceway/lobby/common space, nursing station, pharmacy, physical therapy rooms
Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
