Summary:

Will conduct mentored research in the area of childhood stress, trauma, and resilience. This includes participation in ongoing funded projects, independent mentored research and didactic work.

Responsibilities:

Full-time research and training as appropriate for the individual's training plan; the research time will be spent on research focused on childhood stress, trauma, and resilience. The fellow will be matched with a research mentor based on their interests and experience and the availability of potential mentors. Individually tailored goals will be established. The Fellow will be exposed to various aspects of stress research through participation in the following activities:
Review of relevant literature and participation in a range of research activities. Completion of pilot projects or examination of data from the mentor's line of research. From this work, the Fellow will prepare manuscripts and presentations for national conferences. The fellow will develop and submit research proposals during the fellowship period.
Didactic educational opportunities can complement research activities and mentorship.

BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
PhD with doctoral degree in a relevant discipline or MD with relevant residency training or doctoral degree in a relevant discipline.
Completion of relevant doctoral degree or MD and relevant residency; experience working within a research team.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Works in a behavioral laboratory environment with exposure to research participants including adults, children, and families.
INDEPENDENT ACTION:
Performs independently within the department's policies and practices. Refers specific complex problems to the supervisor when clarification of the departmental policies and procedures are required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
Supervision of Fellows is expected dependent upon research.
