Summary:

The Production Worker/Press Operator is responsible for safely setting up and operating mechanical press equipment in accordance with established procedures and quality standards. This role works within the guidelines of the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) and follows seniority-based job bidding and assignment protocols.

Responsibilities:



  • Operate mechanical presses in accordance with safety procedures and standard work instructions.
  • Inspect parts during production using appropriate measurement tools to ensure conformance with quality standards.
  • Complete required production and quality documentation in accordance with plant and union requirements.
  • Participate in job rotations and reassignments based on seniority, training, and operational needs.
  • Communicate with maintenance or supervision to report mechanical or safety issues promptly.
  • Follow all safety protocols including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), machine guarding, and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Perform daily housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Participate in mandated training and certifications as outlined in the CBA or required by management.
  • Other assigned duties directed by supervisor/manager.


Requirements:



  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous press operating experience preferred; internal candidates will be trained in accordance with training guidelines.
  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions, and safety protocols.
  • Physical ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work overtime or alternate shifts.


Work Environment:



  • Production facility with rotating shifts, scheduled breaks.
  • Exposure to industrial noise, oil, and metal shavings; PPE is required.
  • Adherence to labor contract terms regarding shift bidding, overtime assignments, and work conditions.
  • Overtime and weekend work required based on business needs.
