Position Summary:

The GSM FHN & Rotex Business Lead is owning the regional GSM targets and performance (productivity, delivery, quality, sustainability, innovation from 3rd party spend) for the assigned Division and the GSM integration related to M&A (e..g.. Linxis) which includes to

  • Lead the GSM team to ensure full ownership and compliance across all tasks encompassed within the Source to Contract and Procure to Pay Workflows

  • Lead the development and implementation of Division-related GSM strategy and programs across all OPCOs/BUs/Sites in scope by leveraging global HI GSM Category Management (Indirect and Direct) and defined GSM processes and excellence tools

  • Orchestrate Division-related GSM performance across all relevant HI GSM functions (Category Manager, Supplier Account Manager) to meet Division/BU objectives and to assure effective execution of globally defined GSM strategies and integration/synergy programs

  • Establish strong partnerships with Operational site leadership to drive collaborative understanding and alignment of GSM and Operational strategies, short and long-term goals. Embed GSM in site leadership meetings and communications to ensure sustainable, on-going partnership and alignment.

  • Partner with Operational and GSM leaders to develop, define and deploy operational and strategic GSM processes and standards in alignment to the globally defined HI policies and local requirements. Work closely with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Marketing, Operations, Finance, Legal, Logistics, HR, etc) across the company to drive success

  • Assure early involvement of Project Sourcing in all business-critical projects to assure impact by applying Advanced Project Sourcing principles if applicable (project management required to ensure on time delivery and cost management)

  • Represent HI GSM (entire scope) as extended member of the Division Leadership Team during the SDP related processes (SA, SF, SDP) and all ongoing related Team meetings

  • Business portfolio and partnerships may vary over time - changing in scale and scope based upon the enterprise structure. Adjustments to this role will not require any changes to job description or employment contracts.

The goals are to be achieved with financially and ethically sound methods, with an emphasis on the principles of the Hillenbrand Operating Model (HOM).

Work You'll Do:

Become an influential and valued GSM Business Partner with an emphasis on mutual long-term and sustainable benefits

  • Analyze and evaluate value chain and supply base performance levels against Division-related requirements (quality, delivery, productivity, innovation, sustainability) to understand opportunities and risks

  • Plan, lead and execute cross-functional BU/OPCO GSM productivity conventions to build a strong funnel of measures to achieve the Division/BU targets

  • Ensure strong understanding of and leverage cost category and market insights to constantly challenge the status quo and bring compelling solutions to the table which drive exceptional value to the organization in alignment with GSM strategies

  • Align GSM targets with Division leadership related to productivity, quality, cost and supply base optimization

  • Lead communications and efforts to ensure that GSM set-up, processes and policies are deployed, understood and applied within Division by managing respective stakeholder network and communication

  • Key performance indicators (but not limited to): Productivity, Working Capital - terms and inventory, Synergy, Delivery | Fill Rate, Quality, Sustainability, Spend Under Contract, Risk Scoring, SIOP, Procurement cycle, Compliance & Trade, New product development and innovation. Create a service performance culture that is agile and flexible.

  • Lead, project manage, and support supplier and business footprint optimization - transitioning supply between regions to de-risk, dual source and leverage competitiveness of best cost country. Critical partner in planning and execution for internal business moves

Orchestrate BU-related GSM performance to meet BU objectives and deliver on agreed plans

  • Program manage the execution of Division/BU related GSM funnel measures together with the other GSM functions

  • Initiate and organize effective crises management in case of business critical and systemic supply base/supplier-related issues

  • Conduct GSM BU review meeting and Market update as defined in the monthly GSM Performance Cadence

People and GSM network development and resource management

  • Ensure that all GSM people in scope are trained, enabled and empowered

  • Lead the GSM network across all assigned people (technically and disciplinary) to ensure effective best-practice exchange and full involvement into the global HI GSM set-up

  • HR management and people development based on defined targets if applicable

  • Lead and mentor the sourcing (project management and category management) and procurement teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence. Develop high performing, agile, scalable teams. Provide coaching, training, development and career planning

Assure impact from Project Sourcing

  • Develop Project Sourcing capability and capacity (processes, systems, talent and skills) to assure early involvement in Sales and R&D projects

  • Review customer project pipeline regarding GSM priorities to align involvement levels of Project GSM Managers with Division/BU leaders based on agreed project targets and aligned scope of work

  • Lead collaboration between Global Project Sourcing and site GSM to ensure execution of assigned Project GSM Project sourcing activities (Customer and R&D projects)

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum: Bachelor degree in a relevant technical discipline or equivalent; Preferred: Master degree in a relevant technical discipline or equivalent

  • Desired: Separate expert level certifications in Lean/Six Sigma, Design to Cost and Project Management methodologies

Experience in:

  • 5 years' experience in tactical procurement / Buyer

  • 3 years' experience as Project Sourcing Manager and or Category Manager

  • Min. 5 year experience as Team lead

  • Several years' experience in global sourcing in European, Asian and North American markets

  • Several years' successful in global Project and Program Management and in leading interdisciplinary cross-functional team

  • Project management

  • Experienced in M&A

  • Advanced Negotiation skills

  • Advanced analytical and conceptual skills combined with the ability to drive results and use the relevant IT tools (e.g. PowerBI)

  • Advanced knowledge about Source-2-Contract processes and Supplier Contract Management as well as Procure to Pay

  • Total Cost of Ownership business case calculation incl. make vs. buy

  • GSM processes & governance

  • Supply base risk management

  • Proficient skills in Business English
