Location: This position is onsite at the One Energy Plaza located in Jackson, MI. The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package is available for those that qualify).

General Summary of Job Responsibilities
The Strategic Advisor to the Senior Vice President ensures alignment, cohesion, and execution of the company's purpose, long-term strategic goals, and cultural transformation. This role is pivotal in driving strategic initiatives, enhancing executive effectiveness, and fostering cross-functional collaboration. The Strategic Advisor acts as a force multiplier for the SVP, enabling high impact decision making, organizational agility, and operational excellence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Strategic Alignment & Execution: Drive alignment across business units and functions to ensure delivery of the company's strategic priorities. Oversee the development and execution of in-year strategies to close performance gaps. Champion business readiness and organizational agility to support transformation and mitigate risk.
  • Executive Advisory & Support: Serve as a trusted advisor to the SVP, providing counsel on critical decisions, change management, and confidential matters. Facilitate executive level discussions to ensure clarity, alignment, and quality outcomes.
  • Executive Communications & Stakeholder Engagement: Oversee the development of world-class executive communications for internal and external stakeholders, including investors, regulators, and employees. Ensure consistent messaging and engagement strategies that reinforce trust and transparency.
  • Initiative Leadership: Lead and deliver critical strategic initiatives at the direction of the SVP. Monitor progress, remove barriers, and ensure timely execution of high-impact projects.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Team Leadership - Positively influence others in the organization through mentoring and project teams. These efforts promote professional growth and foster a collaborative work culture, resulting in improved team performance and morale. Project Management - Oversee complex projects, ensuring timeliness, budget guidelines, and deliverables are met while maintaining the highest level of quality. Implement and streamline processes to enhance operational efficiency and cross-functional collaboration. Leverage technology specific to CEO operations to maximize impact and efficiency.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring the CEO's priorities resonate and drive engagement. Represent the company and CEO to external stakeholders, enhancing the company's public image and thought leadership.
  • Strategic Planning & Governance: Lead integrated long-term strategic planning processes and ensure alignment with annual business plans. Establish and manage operating cadences (e.g., Operational Reviews, Staff Councils, Leadership Meetings). Ensure decision-making frameworks are consistently applied across the enterprise.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Deep understanding of corporate strategy, organizational dynamics, and enterprise-level planning. Ability to synthesize complex information and translate it into actionable insights.
  • Proven experience leading and developing high-performing teams, ideally in a matrixed or enterprise environment.
  • Ability to inspire, coach, and hold team members accountable while fostering collaboration and innovation. Skilled in building a leadership culture that promotes trust, inclusion, and performance.
  • Strong project management skills with a track record of delivering large-scale initiatives.
  • Ability to design and implement governance structures and operating rhythms.
  • High degree of emotional intelligence, integrity, and discretion in handling sensitive information. Trusted confidant and capable of managing confidential and politically sensitive matters.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives for diverse audiences. Comfortable representing executive leadership in high-stake settings.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business related field and 7+years of experience in strategic planning, communications, marketing and/or business.
  • [OR] Associate's degree in Business related field and 9+years of experience in strategic planning, communications, marketing and/or business.
  • [OR] high school diploma and 11+ years of experience in strategic planning, communications, marketing and/or business.
