Job Details:
Mercer Medicine is searching for an IT Support Technician on the Macon, Georgia campus.

Responsibilities:

The IT Support Technician's primary responsibility is to provide technical support to all of Mercer Medicine's faculty and staff. This includes handling on-site support, remote-site support, phone calls, e-mails, and issues reported in the incident tracking system provided by the Help Desk. This position is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and support of computer hardware and software. Duties also include identifying and resolving problems with computers, basic network issues, and audio-visual resources. The IT Support Technician must have strong customer service and communication skills in order to fulfill required duties, which include conversing with faculty and staff who are not technologically proficient.

Qualifications:

A high school diploma or GED is required along with 2 years of customer service experience which must include 1 year of professional experience providing computer hardware and software support. CompTIA A+ certification required or must be completed within 12 months of hire.

Candidates must have current valid driver's license and be insurable by the university's carrier.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Computer troubleshooting skills and basic network diagnostics, customer service assistance, essential server administration.
  • Must be proficient in supporting and configuring current Windows client operating systems.
  • Must be proficient in supporting and configuring the MS Office Suite, including Outlook.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to develop creative solutions to technically challenging problems.
  • Provide technology recommendations and hardware/software quotes to faculty and staff.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to support faculty, staff and students who have a wide range of technical proficiency.
  • Conduct individualized instruction and demonstrations on the use of computer/network hardware and software via phone, as needed.
  • Ability to carry up to 25 lbs. for short distances with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to travel on university business and must be insurable by the university's carrier.
