We are seeking a Category Manager to join the Medical-Surgical team supporting our Lab business in Richmond, VA. The Lab Category Manager will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to drive revenue and margin growth for an assigned portfolio. Analysis, communication, problem solving, collaboration, project management, and relationship management are daily aspects of the role.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage key core categories in the business with moderately complex supplier relationships.
  • Analyze current category performance including revenue growth, profitability, supplier performance, supply chain, and customer segments.
  • Gather insights about the category including competitive market factors, customer demand trends, industry issues and trends, and new/potential technologies.
  • Develop strategy including product assortment, selling approach (digital presence, sales enablement, marketing), and pricing philosophy.
  • Communicate, adjust, and execute strategy. This will include supplier negotiations, collaboration with many internal teams, and ongoing measurement and communication.
  • Sell valuable services to suppliers that will be provided by McKesson.
  • Manage complex and dynamic long-term relationships with suppliers, acting as a lead point of contact for McKesson for suppliers to collaborate with other areas of the business.
  • Lead contract negotiations and communicate the value of McKesson to suppliers.

Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent and typically requires 4+ years of relevant experience.

Critical Skills:

  • Effective communication and presentation skills with a large variety of audiences, both internal and external.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Excel- Pivots, VLOOKUP's and PowerPoint).
  • Experience managing multiple projects requiring frequent communication and problem solving.
  • Monitor industry trends and provide recommendations for improvement

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in planning, procurement, strategic sourcing, buying, cost reduction and contract negotiations within a supply chain organization (healthcare experience preferred but not required).
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred
  • Experience working in a healthcare environment preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel approximately 10% for sales and supplier meetings as needed

This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$83,500 - $139,100
