The Cone Health Family Medicine Teaching Residency Program in Greensboro, NC, is recruiting a full-time Teaching Faculty Family Medicine physician. The successful candidate will be a board-certified or board eligible Allopathic or Osteopathic Family Medicine physician. Clinical duties include both inpatient and outpatient care with associated clinical teaching for residents and medical students. The position requires an academic skillset that includes curriculum development, evaluation, advising, and scholarly activity. Interest in geriatrics, office-based procedures, and care of the medically underserved are desirable but not required. Salary and academic rank are commensurate with experience. The Cone Health Family Medicine Residency (CHFMR) was one of the seventeen Family Medicine residency programs in the nation, with the first class starting in 1970. CHFMR is a highly successful 8/8/8 program well known for excellence in preparing well-rounded residents for clinical practice. Members of the Cone Health Faculty receive academic appointments in the Department of Family Medicine of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and the program plays an active role in the education of UNC medical students on our campus. The residency also benefits from the presence of a nationally renowned ACGME accredited Sports Medicine Fellowship. There is also an FM-OB Fellowship program affiliated with the residency. Our Family Medicine Center sits on the campus of the flagship hospital of the Cone Health System and is the home of our resident/faculty clinical practice. The clinic serves a diverse patient population, including refugees, as well as a high number of pediatric and obstetric patients. Cone Health recently partnered with Risant Health, which has increased support services and access to additional resources. The clinic has an embedded pharmacist, an academic behavioral health clinician, a social worker, a child development specialist, a refugee care coordinator, and a prenatal navigator. About the area. The Greensboro urban area is the 3rd largest in North Carolina with a population of 300,000 people and a regional population of approximately 1 million. Greensboro offers excellent schools along with numerous parks, multi-cultural and sporting events, including the Tanger Center for Performing Arts, and much more. Teaching and Education Provision of educational conferences for residents, faculty, students and teams to include Grand Rounds, Journal Clubs, Noon Conferences, Medical Student Lectures, Clinical Improvement Conferences, Board Review sessions and others as assigned. Mentoring of medical students, APP students and residents. Provide clinical supervision to students and residents on rotations as assigned. --------------------------------------------- Clinical Provide patient care to patients in various clinical areas as assigned. --------------------------------------------- Scholarly Work and Research Faculty should encourage and support residents in scholarly activities including abstract submission, poster presentation, oral presentation and case report publication. The faculty must establish and maintain an environment of inquiry and scholarship with an active research component. This may include collaboration and participation in approved research projects. --------------------------------------------- Administrative Participate in required or assigned committee work including THN, CHMG, Graduate Medical Education, Medical Staff or others. Developing, in collaboration with leadership, new rotation or education experiences for students and residents. --------------------------------------------- Institutional Citizenship Work as a part of the larger team to improve access, reduce cost, improve quality and promote efficiency and better health outcomes. This may include engagement in community outreach and to attend professional events to assist with program development and building professional relationships.
