The Mechanical Technician Certified maintains, cleans and repairs mechanical systems.

This is an internal position for current NSS employees.

Work Model: Onsite

Essential Job Duties and Functions:

• Inspects, adjusts, repairs, cleans, and services machinery diagnosing the defects by inspection or by disassembling the machine and examining the moving parts or other mechanisms; tightens, loosens, sets, and otherwise adjusts gears, guides, rollers, pinions and other parts; removes defective parts and repairs them or replaces with new ones.
• Overhauls, installs and aligns pumps, motors, and mechanical drives, performs mechanical inspections, adjustments, and repairs to hoists, monorail cranes, derricks, and elevators, services, repairs, and troubleshoots problems in hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• May be asked to assist with or complete work in other craft areas.
• All other duties as assigned.

Mandatory:

• High school graduate or GED equivalent with successful completion of related vocational program
• Minimum of 5 years directly related experience may be substituted for education requirement.
• Must be licensed by the State of Mississippi in the areas of pollution control, backflow prevention, wastewater treatment systems or certified in potable water system operation or must be certified as a drumwatcher for derrick operations.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen in order to obtain required NASA badge
• Must be able to provide a certified Birth Certificate (with state seal), Passport, or INS Citizenship documents on date of hire (candidate will be sent home if this paperwork is not provided upon arrival on date of hire).
• Must have the ability to communicate the English language, both verbally and written, in an effective manner.
• Must have, and maintain, a valid Real ID driver's license.
• Must be able to pass a Pre-Employment background check and drug screen test.

Physical Requirements:

• Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Dexterity to operate office equipment as required by the position.
