Salary Range Starting at: $20.00 per hour

Job Overview:

Our Maintenance and custodial Supervisor will maintain and oversee The Salvation Army Indiana Divisional Headquarters' grounds, building, quarters and equipment to ensure that facilities are safe and functional; negotiate contacts with service providers, ensure facilities meet safety regulations and coordinate renovations and updates.

What You Will Do:



  • Perform emergency repairs whenever possible before calling in outside services.
  • Facilitate routine repairs and inspections at DHQ and DHQ Officer Quarters; this includes but is not limited to heating/cooling, plumbing, electrical service and furnishings.
  • Meet with outside contractors regarding service work or estimates for DHQ and DHQ officer quarters. Maintain vendor list and disseminate information as needed.
  • Coordinate with maintenance and custodial worker(s), develop custodial schedule and maintain high levels of clear communication.
  • Perform routine janitorial /custodial services as needed. Set up rooms and equipment as directed. This may involve relocating office items, including furniture and file cabinets.
  • Assist with set up and moving of supplies and equipment at various TSA events and locations as assigned.
  • Drive trucks/ other TSA vehicles in connection with deliveries and pick-ups as directed. Help with loading and unloading as assigned.
  • Maintain records and conduct periodic checks on vehicles as directed; receive and recommend approvals for vehicle repairs and maintenance.
  • Report to management/ department head on building security and safety in all weather conditions, snow removal from sidewalks, driveways and parking lots of DHQ.
  • Routine maintenance on TSA equipment: hand/or power tools for basic tasks, lawn mowers, snow blowers, and weed trimmers.
  • Other tasks as assigned by leadership


Minimum Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Background Checks: Position requires a background check to be completed, and all background check results will be reviewed.

Experience: Prior management experience in related field preferred.

Certifications: Must have a valid driver's license and maintain The Salvation Army Driver's qualification standard; must complete Safe From Harm training within the first 90 days of employment.

Skills/Abilities:



  • Able to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership, field personnel, and clientele
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft products and ability to learn electronic reporting systems


Supervisory Responsibility: Supervises Janitor/Custodian and cleaning company

Physical Requirements Include:



  • Good speaking, hearing and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity
  • Lifting, pulling and pushing of materials up to 50 pounds
  • May require bending, squatting, walking
  • May require standing for extended periods


Travel: Pick-up or delivery of items in TSA vehicles. Travel to various TSA events and units statewide as needed.

Working Conditions: Work is performed in a typical office/ maintenance environment with exposure to fumes, dust, steam, water and chemicals. Exposure to all weather conditions. May require some weekend and evening work.
