The Salvation Army North and Central Illinois Division provides these services to people in need. JOB SUMMARY This individual will help manage the daily operations of the food pantry for The Salvation Army of Champaign County. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Loading and unloading of truck from grocery stores and food bank
- Sorting of food items
- Prepare freezer and refrigerator with necessary food for the day
- Prepare food distribution room in an orderly manner
- Check and record the temperature of all freezers and refrigerators, notifying supervisor if temperatures are not within safe zone
- Maintain a clean and organized storage and pantry area
- Properly store food at end of pantry distribution
- Build relationships by engaging in tactful, positive, and culturally sensitive dialogue with food pantry clients
- Maintain flexibility to meet the daily changing needs of the food pantry
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere through appropriate conflict management, courteous demeanor, and professional and appropriate communication practices
- Other related duties as assigned

JOB LIMITATIONS
- This individual will only commit Army resources that have been allocated or approved.
- This individual will adhere to all policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position. The individual will keep the local Corps Officer(s) informed of all critical issues relating to their area of responsibility along with the designated reporting relationships.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
- This position will be required to do light to moderate physical work, regularly lifting 30 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. The will be required to talk and listen, stand, walk, sit and use hands.
- To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to use standard office equipment including a PC and interact daily with the community and business operations.
- The work environment for this position includes an office and warehouse environment with a low to moderate noise level.
- Work will be performed both indoors and outdoors.
- This individual must be able to travel locally to meet the needs of the position. A valid MVR clearance is required.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
- This position reports to the Director of Social Services and works in coordination with the Pantry Supervisor.
PERFORMANCE MEASURES
- This individual will be evaluated on how effectively the outcomes of this position are achieved. Timeliness and accuracy of accomplishing assigned goals will be reviewed. An evaluation of how effective service is provided. Performance will also be determined by outcome information provided during weekly staff meetings and monthly reports.
POSITION LIMITATIONS This individual will adhere to all policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position.
