We're looking for a Risk Management Specialist to support our insurance claims processes (including workers' compensation, general liability, and property claims) and lead safety initiatives that make a real impact in our restaurants. This role will also support crisis response efforts and partner with our teams to proactively prevent injuries, reduce expenses, and protect what matters most.

We are targeting $65,000-$75,000 base salary with annual 10% bonus potential. This is a hybrid role and is required to work 2-3 days in office. We are located at Colorado Blvd. & I-25 in Denver. There may be some travel required to tour in our markets.

Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to:

  • Receive incident reports (reports of damage to property or injuries to individuals), investigates and coordinates claims, notifies appropriate internal and external parties (including filing claims or notifying third party administrators, insurers, brokers, etc.)
  • Ensure the proper and efficient investigation and day-to-day handling of workers compensation, general liability, property damage, and other casualty claims including gathering and inputting data on claims for both record keeping and risk forecasting purposes.
  • Monitor incident reports and claims data for risk trends and provide input on incident prevention to minimize associated costs.
  • Assist with maintaining workers compensation processes and procedures to keep current with regulatory changes, and to develop communication methods to reinforce proper compliance.
  • Communicate with employees, managers, adjusters, attorneys, and case managers as needed to achieve successful resolution of claims.
  • Participate in regular claim reviews with Insurer, working closely with external claim specialists to develop claim closure strategies.
  • Assist with various post-injury/incident programs (Light Duty/Return to Work) including Team Member and management training, claim reporting procedures and coordination with Human Resources.
  • Prepare and distribute claim tracking and analytics reports.
  • Collaborate on Enterprise Risk Management program including participation in risk assessments, scorecards and mitigation/business continuity plans.
  • Assist with maintaining safety programs, policies, procedures, and activities at Caribou to effectively and efficiently reduce exposure, accidents, and losses.
  • Work with Store Operations to effectively monitor the health and safety of team members, including incident investigations and responding to questions/concerns related to team member safety and health.
  • Revise, lead and participate in safety training and education programs including ergonomic accommodations requests.
  • Support safety efforts and promotion of a safe workplace with Support Center and Field Leadership as required.
  • Assist in the regular assessment of risks to health and safety, and implementation of mitigation measures as identified/necessary from risk assessments.
  • Assist with maintaining the Certificate of Insurance (COI) Program.
  • Communicate safety topics, initiatives, injury trends, and upcoming safety events on a regular basis to promote a safe environment.
  • Assist with the company's motor vehicle/insurance and driver policy and processes.
  • Participate in the company's Crisis Response Team and Support Center Emergency Response Team.
  • Work closely with Quality Assurance and Customer Service in handling guest complaints as they pertain to Food Safety.
  • Ensure compliance with team member safety awareness practices and guidelines designed to promote safe working practices and communicate appropriately.
  • Respond timely to questions/concerns related to team member safety and health.
  • Partnering with all internal and external partners to resolve Asset Protection and security related issues.
  • Administer and support the physical security program for the Bagel Brands support center. This will include but not limited to helping manage the locks, keys, access control and alarm systems.
  • Assist in administering Bagel Brands workplace violence prevention program. Working with key partners to prevent and resolve disruptive events, internally and externally.
  • Improve the guest and employee experience by supporting a secure environment.
  • Perform other related duties, tasks, and projects as assigned.
  • Some travel will be required.

EDUCATION - TRAINING - EXPERIENCE

  • Risk Management experience preferred.
  • Computer skills including: Excel, Outlook and Risk Management software.
  • Multiunit experience in retail, or fast casual restaurant industry.
  • Knowledge of industry Assert Protection best practices preferred.

Compensation Range:

$40,560.00 - $70,990.40 per year

*Starting pay is subject to Local and State Minimum Wage regulations.
