Responsibilities

As a Fiber Splicer, you are responsible to produce end-to-end fiber optic networks. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. And you're up for the challenge.

In addition, you will:

  • Work on the pre-installation, construction side of telecom projects.
  • Splice and test larger fiber counts off the mainline (commonly 48-288+).
  • Splice various types of fiber, including single fiber, ribbon, and loose tube.
  • Operate and troubleshoot with all standard testing equipment, including OTDR (1310, 1550, DWDM, CWDM), OLTS, Max Tester, and power meters.
  • Prep and install fiber splice enclosures (e.g., Tyco, Commscope, Corning).
  • Utilize fusion splicers and related equipment to ensure high-quality connections.
  • Apply fiber engineering knowledge to interpret fiber designs, documentation, light levels, and dB loss.
  • Work in outdoor utility construction environments, often in varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

About You:

  • Safety is a part of your day to day
  • You have a track record of completing work with a high level of quality
  • Have experience splicing fiber, coax, and copper - preferred
  • Have experience with provision and turn up on optical nodes - preferred

  • Able to complete daily paperwork for work completed (as build drawings)
  • Able to read and understand designs such as: blueprints, splicing schematics, etc.
  • You have at least 3-5 years of fiber splicing and troubleshooting experience
  • You are comfortable working on ladder or bucket truck
  • You have a knack for figuring out hard problems and enjoy a hands on approach to your work
  • You are flexible and enjoy a variety of shifts with overtime
  • Have a valid Driver's License with clean record past 3 years
  • CDL (preferred)
