Job Description

Performs duties related to departmental physician's billing and collection, including but not limited to verifying insurance coverage with third party carriers, follow-up on outstanding accounts, entering charges/ payments/ adjustments into the computer and maintaining records of fees collected periodically.

Job Responsibility




  • * Performs all duties related to departmental physicians' billing, including but not limited to:

    • Completing, processing and reconciling insurance claim forms/payments.
    • Following up on outstanding accounts via telephone and /or written inquiry to patients and /or third party payors.
    • Inputs charges, payments and adjustments to computerized system or posts to manual records.
    • Maintains daily, weekly and monthly records of fees collected.
    • Verifies insurance coverage and other related data with third party carriers.
    • Processes credit balance reports, prepare pre-collection notices and other correspondence/bills.

  • * Performs six-month and year-end account analysis.
  • * Sets-up financial agreements with patients, upon consulting with supervisor.
  • * Set-up patient charts and billing cards.
  • * Prepares payment journals and/or make bank deposits.
  • Performs related duties, as required.

Job Qualification




  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Knowledge of physician's billing inclusive of third party billing and CPT codes, required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9 coding and automated systems, preferred.Ability to input data to computerized system.
  • Ability to do simple arithmetic calculations. Ability to communicate effectively.
