Apheresis Technician - Scripps Green Hospital

This is a benefited, full time position generally working Monday-Thursday from 6:30am-4:30pm. Hours will vary as needed. Located at Scripps Green Hospital in La Jolla (Torrey Pines area).

What you'll do:

• Perform apheresis procedures on patients following established standard operating procedures
• Prepare and maintain apheresis machines and equipment
• Comply with regulatory requirements of the cellular therapy program
• Obtain/measure and record patient data in the EMR
• Communicate to RN changes in health status of the donor or patient before, during, and after the procedure
• Collect, label and store blood components properly
• Ensure proper identification of patient or donor to maintain safety standards
• Document all necessary information in patient or donor records
• Communicate effectively with the healthcare team and the patient or donor
• Adhere to all safety and infection control guidelines
• Performs interventions with scope, under the direction of the RN

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:

• Required to have completed at least 40 hours of phlebotomy training.
• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to follow protocols to maintain quality systems.
• Demonstrated critical thinking and troubleshooting skills.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 lbs.
  
  Required Certification/Registration:
• Certified Phlebotomy Technician.
• BLS through the American Heart Association.
  
  Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:
• Phlebotomy experience.
• Knowledge of Epic.
• Experience with apheresis.
• Bachelor's Degree.
