What to Expect
Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Equipment Maintenance Technician to ensure the operational availability of advanced 4680 battery cell manufacturing equipment. This role involves applying technical expertise to install, maintain, and repair high-speed, high-volume mechanical and electrical systems, factory automation, and robotics. As a first responder to machine breakdowns, the technician will manage recoveries and collaborate with engineering teams to enhance equipment reliability in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
What You'll Do
- Perform preventative maintenance on all industrial production and mechatronic equipment
- Diagnose equipment failures, identify root causes, and communicate required actions across relevant teams
- Conduct major equipment repairs, rebuilds, and installations
- Collaborate with process and equipment engineering teams to improve equipment reliability and maintenance protocols
- Perform corrective maintenance on electrical systems, mechanical systems, conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics, PLCs, vision/inspection equipment, or FANUC robots
- Order parts, supplies, and equipment from catalogues or storerooms, and log all work using Tesla CMMS
- Execute additional tasks as directed by management
- Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal
What You'll Bring
- Three or more years of experience in maintenance on production manufacturing equipment or equivalent training or relevant education
- Ability to analyze problems, identify root causes, and implement long-term solutions
- Experience using volt/multi-meters and interpreting schematic diagrams to troubleshoot electrical systems
- Capability to read and interpret detailed mechanical assembly drawings and measure tolerances accurately
- Knowledge of high-speed precision conveyances using magnetics, belts, rotary dials, and pneumatics
- Proficiency with pneumatic solenoid valves, actuators, control operations, and reading schematics
- Familiarity with basic hydraulic and vacuum system operations
Essential Physical Demands
- Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours a day, including over varied and uneven terrain
- Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 35 lbs., including the ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs
- Frequently and repetitively, bend, lift and reach
- Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time, including up to 12 hours a day
- Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures
- Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, or hearing
- Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: PAPR, safety glasses, safety shoes, bump caps, and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines

Expected Compensation
$32.00 - $60.70/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
