About the Job

General Statement of Responsibilities (broad definition):

Provide professional pharmacy services at Boynton Health under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.

Detailed Job Responsibilities:

  • Enter, verify, fill, and check prescriptions under the direct supervision of a pharmacist for dispensing to patients per pharmacy procedures and protocols, as well as state and federal laws.
  • Process prescriptions employing the pharmacy's current pharmacy software system.
  • Answer the phone to receive phoned-in prescriptions from providers, complete prescription transfers, and respond to requests within the confines of state and federal privacy laws.
  • Perform DUR and Quality Assurance under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Document patient and prescriber interactions in patient profile.
  • Assist pharmacy technicians in the return-to-stock process for prescriptions that are not picked up by patients.
  • Check for outdated, or soon to be outdated, drugs in all areas of the pharmacy on a regular basis.
  • Serve as a medication information resource for patients, Boynton Health staff and outside providers under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Counsel each patient regarding use and precautions for their new prescriptions.
  • Prepare orders of vaccines and station stocks for all BH clinics, including the Minneapolis College and BH St Paul Clinics.
  • Order medication and prepare orders for U of MN research departments.
  • Verify and dispense prescriptions for a public health tuberculosis program under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Promote a safe, equitable, and respectful environment in which concerns can be addressed effectively.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in College of Pharmacy
  • Current Minnesota Pharmacist Intern Licensure
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting a culture that respects and advances diversity and inclusion

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with individuals from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Experience working with transgender patients.
  • Experience providing, documenting and billing for Medication Therapy Management.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $20-$25/hour, approximately 8-16 hours a week.
