Job Description

Title: Quality Technician (Inspector)

Shift: Nights

Schedule: 4 days on, 4 days off; 6:45pm - 7am

* Potential for required hours on alternate shift, dependent on business needs

SUMMARY:

Quality Assurance Technician provides overall front-line support to the production of quality product with a basic understanding of visual inspection using various lab equipment and methods. Qualified candidates must have an overall understanding of the various processes including product descriptions, critical measurements, weights, and customers. Provides control and maintenance of fundamental quality systems information with the ability to understand and follow basic testing practices and guidelines; ability to perform dynamic tests and measurements on raw materials, injection production, blow molding production, and finished goods utilizing lab equipment provided. Responsible for, and has the authority to, assist the Quality Assurance Manager in the control of non-conforming raw materials, injection molding and blow molding production, and finished goods. Completes duties of Quality Lead when a temporary replacement is required.

RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY:

  • Maintains personal and workplace SAFETY as top priority, and QUALITY as second priority as shown by compliance to safety procedures, completion of Proactive Safety Observations and participation in all assigned Computer-Based Trainings (CBTs), and Quality-Based Trainings (QBTs).

  • Follows all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).

  • Understands Statistical Process Controls (SPC) and can interpret quality data and statistics.

  • Conducts or coordinates certain quality and quality-system related training.

  • Participates in internal and external documented quality system IFS PACsecure and GMP audits.

  • Responsibility and authority as outlined in Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instruction, and Instruction Manuals for assigned equipment.

  • Operate quality control test equipment such as laser micrometers, intrinsic viscosity tester, height and base clearance gauges, burst tester, force gages, Acetaldehyde tester (AA), Automatic Vision Bottle Inspection System (AVBIS), and other testing equipment as assigned.

  • Can read and understand product specification drawings and production control plans.

  • Participates in GMP audits, certification inspections and mock recalls. Communicate any required corrective actions to supervisors, managers, and other department employees.

  • Possesses a working knowledge of RealSPC, Mii inventory, and iAuditor software programs or related demonstrated computer competency.

  • Maintains quality equipment as needed. Ensures proper control plans at production test stations.

  • Orders materials needed for routine test performance and monitors instrument calibrations.

  • Maintains work areas and equipment in a high state of cleanliness and readiness.

  • Conduct a variety of inspections and laboratory tests to confirm if raw materials, supplies, and manufactured goods meet specifications. Report non-conformances to Quality Manager, supervisors, department managers and proper employees. Has authority to quarantine out-of-specification product, materials, or supplies pending determination of management.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.

  • One year certificate from college or technical school, six months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
