Essential Job Duties |
The
Administrative Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the academic area, serving faculty, students, and affiliated personnel with a wide range of administrative needs. This position provides direct support to the Area Chair, including managing calendars, scheduling meetings, coordinating conferences and events, assisting visiting faculty and scholars, and preparing communications on behalf of the academic area.
As a key representative of the academic area, the Administrative Assistant acts as a liaison between the Area Chair and various internal and external stakeholders-including faculty, academic programs, and the Kenan-Flagler Business School Dean's Office. The position is also responsible for overseeing essential business functions such as developing and maintaining the area's annual budget, processing invoices and reconciliations, managing procurement, and ensuring the effective stewardship of area resources. In addition, this role supports the academic mission by coordinating classroom scheduling, updating course and curriculum information, and managing departmental teaching assistants and student employees to ensure smooth and effective program delivery. |

Customer service orientation, with a professional and proactive approach to supporting faculty, students, and visitors. Attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when managing budgets, invoices, and scheduling logistics.

Familiarity with university systems and tools, such as Concur and/or other UNC specific tools.- Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and experience using financial management systems to process transactions, manage budgets, and generate financial reports.
