Quality Control Technician

Job Summary: The Quality Control Technician is responsible for monitoring, verifying, and auditing all daily operations, including documentation. The Quality Control Technician is also responsible for assisting in the administration of testing on all products, cleaning chemical checks, and brine testing.

Reporting: Reports to the Quality Control Lead with a dotted line to the Quality Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Have a complete understanding of food safety systems and programs. (HACCP, SQF, GMPs, Sanitation, SOPs, SSOPs, Preventive Controls)
  • Prescence and awareness on manufacturing floor.
  • Perform procedural audits throughout the facility.
  • Monitor all operations departments for GMPs and SOP/SSOP Adherence.
  • Monitor all verification documents in each department for completion and provide sign off for their completion.
  • Work with department managers, supervisors, and leads to assure food safety and food quality specifications are maintained.
  • Perform regular swabs of surfaces on a regular basis and record the information according to procedures.
  • Verify and/or prepare the accuracy of samples sent out for microanalysis.
  • Assist in the administration of the HACCP program and continuous improvement programs as required.
  • Perform calibrations of the equipment for use in the operation departments and lab areas.
  • Responsible for chemical titrations and adherence to procedure.
  • Assist in the administration of Food Safety Training as needed.
  • Review and approve incoming COAs and COCs, along with supporting the receiving process as needed.
  • Lead findings meetings with cross functional departments to communicate non-conformances for continued improvement.
  • Willingness to attend educational workshops/seminars in food safety and food quality as needed.
  • Recommend any possible improvements to the necessary contacts as needed.
  • Perform all product testing in the lab as needed (FOSS equipment, ph, etc.)


Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bilingual Preferred, Spanish and English.
  • Attendance of additional educational workshops and seminars will be required before or during employment for continual education.
  • 2 years' experience working in a food manufacturing facility working with Quality System Implementation or Quality System Management strongly preferred.

  • This position is performed both seated and standing. The employee may occasionally be required to lift objects which weigh no more than 20 lbs.
  • In the normal course of the job, the employee is not regularly exposed to any major or recognized health hazards. However, there will be times when the employee may be required to enter manufacturing areas of the factory and construction zones where they may be exposed to major or recognized hazards. This employee shall receive both food safety and employee safety training before entering any of these areas.
  • This position is performed in an environment where slips, trips, and falls may be a hazard. Employees will be required to maintain adequate footwear provided by the company.
