Position Summary

The Family Financial Wellbeing (FFWB) Program is a growing, multi-site initiative of the University of New Mexico (UNM) Office for Community Health. FFWB connects community members with tax preparation, financial literacy, and public benefit resources through trusted Community Health Workers (CHWs), student interns, and Health Extension Regional Officers (HEROs). The program is currently expanding statewide, with four new implementation sites launched annually.

Under indirect supervision, the FFWB Program Manager will oversee the operational planning, implementation, and evaluation of this multifaceted initiative, including site launches, training coordination, fiscal oversight, and reporting. This position involves statewide travel to support rural and tribal implementation partners and requires experience coordinating across teams, navigating complex funding requirements, and managing subprograms simultaneously.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Directs daily operations of the FFWB program, including multi-site coordination, intern cohorts, CHW support, and annual expansion to ensure compliance with university, state and federal policies and regulations.
  • Leads supervision and professional development of staff, including administrative, programmatic personnel, work allocation, enforcement of internal procedures and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions.
  • Coordinates the design, planning, and execution of program components, including supporting training team in intern onboarding, training logistics, and site onboarding, works with partner organizations and IRS for each site compliance, community recruitment and student intern identifying.
  • Manages annual program budget (~$1M), including grant/contract compliance, subcontractor coordination, prepare reports and approval of site-level expenditures.
  • Provides high-level leadership in expanding the FFWB model statewide, including strategic planning for 4-site annual rollout and adaptation to local needs.
  • Supports evaluation team in developing and maintains data systems for tracking performance metrics, site implementation progress, and evaluation reporting.
  • Serves as primary liaison to internal (UNM) and external stakeholders, including county-based HEROs, CHWs, and local partners.
  • Oversees outreach, communications, and visibility of the FFWB model via public presentations, educational materials, and media.
  • Ensures compliance with UNM and funder policies for human resources, procurement, and reporting.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

  • Proven ability to lead cross-sector teams and manage complex logistics across multiple sites.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage records, compile data, produce timely reports, and track performance metrics across subprograms.
  • Understanding of community-based health and financial wellbeing models.
  • Budget planning and fiscal monitoring proficiency.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust among diverse partners.
  • Comfort with frequent travel throughout New Mexico (up to 15% time).
  • Program planning and implementation skills around community reach and reducing barriers to services.
  • Skills in organizing resources and establishing priorities
  • Working with a diverse, wide range of program stakeholders from community members, financial institutions, media outlets and community-based organizations
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment
  • Employee development and performance management skills both with direct supervisees and contracted partners

Conditions of Employment

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 6 years of experience 2 of which are management level experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Public Health, Social Work, Business, Finances, Education, or related field.
  • Experience managing multi-site community-based programs, especially those involving financial literacy, health equity, or CHW models.
  • Knowledge of financial empowerment resources, tax assistance programs (e.g., VITA), or public benefits navigation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Smartsheet, REDCap, Zoom facilitation and project management tools.
  • Multilingual in one or more locally used languages.
