Essential Duties:
The Assistant Community School Director will be expected to do the following:
* Assist Community School Director with the supervision and management of all programs and initiatives (including
Attendance Improvement, Early Childhood Transition Program, Family Engagement, Health and Wellness)
* Develops, maintains and nurtures relationships with the school administration so as to operationalize the partnership
and participate in school governance structures.
* Represent the school in community meetings and events including attending Bronx Service Cabinet meetings with the
Community School Director
* Supervise all DYCD COMPASS and SONYC after school programs and Expanded Learning Time opportunities on the
Whitney Young Jr Campus
* Work collaboratively with Program Directors to design and implement programming that meets the educational, social
and emotional needs of children in the school, including holiday and summer camp programming.
* Assist in the hiring, management, development, supervision and evaluation of full and part time staff
* Plan and implement regular staff meetings, ongoing professional development and orientations
* Supports the Community School Director in developing and implementing performance management systems to
effectively analyze, assess and evaluate the impact of our services and supports
* Organize and facilitate special events for staff, families and students, as well as student showcase events throughout the
year
* Assist in the oversight and management of all programs (health, dental, mental health, specialty services and projects)
and that it is carried out within the context of partnerships and collaborations
* Contributes to the development and enhancement of parental involvement in the schools through the use of dedicated
activities in the family room, classes and events
* Develop communication systems to ensure effective communication about community school programs, services and
events
* Advocate for children, parents, families, and staff in order to access services
* Seek guidance and identify targeted resources for youth and family supports from appropriate school staff and
community-based partners
* Contribute to ensuring that all administrative and fiscal matters (hiring, payroll, fees, petty cash, budget, etc.) are carried
out with fidelity
* In the absence of the Community School Director, supports in overseeing the management of all programs and activities
in the Community School
*Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree in Social Work, Education or related field preferred
* 3-5 years of experience working with young people (in-school and/or out-of-school settings)
* Exceptional leadership skills and communication skills
* Excellent organizational and time management skills
* 3- 5 years of supervisory experience
*Bilingual Spanish/English skills preferred.
