Position Overview

The Yacht Club General Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the Horseshoe Bay Resort Yacht Club, which includes a fine dining restaurant, full-service bar and cocktail lounge, wine program, banquet event space, lakeside pool, and lake service operations. This hands-on role demands exceptional leadership, operational expertise, and a passion for delivering luxury service experiences to members and guests.

The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and financial management skills, a solid understanding of P&L, and the ability to collaborate effectively with all departments across the resort.

General Responsibilities



  • Deliver exceptional service to members and guests, ensuring a warm, professional, and personalized experience.
  • Maintain the elevated image and standards of Horseshoe Bay Resort.
  • Implement and follow training materials, policies, and service manuals.
  • Lead new hire onboarding, continuous staff training, and performance coaching.
  • Manage administrative tasks, including team scheduling, payroll, and labor forecasting.
  • Monitor and manage inventory, place orders, and ensure availability of supplies.
  • Interview, hire, and manage associates in accordance with company policies, including disciplinary action when required.
  • Drive revenue growth through service enhancements, upselling, and strategic initiatives.


Key Duties & Responsibilities

Operations & Leadership



  • Oversee daily operations of the Yacht Club restaurant, cocktail lounge, banquets, and lakeside pool and lake service areas.
  • Manage opening and closing procedures, including floor plans, lighting, temperature control, and financial closeouts.
  • Maintain high standards for cleanliness, safety, and hygiene across all areas.
  • Monitor and manage dining room ambiance, table settings, and guest readiness.


Wine & Cigar Programs



  • Oversee wine inventory, storage, and presentation; ensure cellar is stocked and maintained.
  • Lead wine sales initiatives, including staff training and guest pairing recommendations.
  • Manage cigar humidor operations, including proper storage, rotation, and guest access.
  • Develop cigar promotions to increase sales and enhance guest experience.


Team & Collaboration



  • Supervise and develop the service team to ensure excellence in hospitality and service delivery.
  • Collaborate with the Resort Bars Manager, Executive Chef, and other F&B leaders on menu development, waste reduction, and event planning.
  • Coordinate with the Membership and Events teams to plan and execute special events, private parties, and club functions.
  • Support other resort outlets and departments as needed.


Guest Experience & Revenue



  • Lead upselling strategies for wine, cigars, cocktails, and special menu offerings.
  • Use reservation platforms effectively to optimize table turns and guest flow.
  • Ensure guest feedback is handled promptly and professionally.
  • Adjust offerings and operations seasonally to match guest needs and resort activity.


Qualifications & Requirements



  • High school diploma or equivalent required; higher education preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as an AGM or GM in a four- or five-star environment.
  • Proven success in managing high-volume, upscale food and beverage operations.
  • Strong knowledge of fine dining service, wine sales, and luxury guest experience.
  • Computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel); familiarity with Agilysys a plus.
  • TABC and Food Handler Certifications required.
  • Valid driver's license with insurability under resort policy.
  • OSHA Hazard Communication training encouraged.


Required Certifications:



  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a AGM/GM, ideally in a four- or five-star environment.
  • Must be at least 18 years old (21+ if driving a licensed Resort vehicle).
  • Food Handler and TABC Certification required.
  • Valid driver's license and eligibility to meet driver insurability requirements set by the insurance carrier.
  • Proven background in food and beverage management, particularly in upscale dining settings.
  • Ability to oversee multiple outlets effectively.
  • Proficient in computer usage, including excel and word.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation and service operations.
  • Familiarity with Agilisys software is a plus but not required.
  • Encourage OSHA Hazard Communication Standard training and certification.
  • Knowledge of wine storage, management, and sales, including wine pairing and upselling.
