Job Summary

Working directly with the College of Arts, Sciences & Education (CASE) Dean's Budget and Operations offices to prepare the annual budget and compile, monitor, analyze and report on financial operations. Serves as the financial liaison for assigned centers, departments, and institutes within the College.

  • Using Financials systems, assist in the new fiscal year's budget preparation and entering of the annual operating budget and forecast for E&G and Foundation funds in collaboration with Budget Directors.
  • Performs accounting functions to include reporting, variance analysis, reconciliation, and budgetary projections for all funds including E&G, Foundation and Grants.
  • Monitors departmental, grant, DSO and foundation accounts for accuracy
  • Assists chairs, directors and CASE departments and centers in managing the operating budget allocated to their areas, including assistance with purchasing contracts, cost transfers, budget transfers, clearing budget exceptions, foundation reimbursements, and any other budgetary issue.
  • Provides department chairs and program directors with financial reports on a quarterly basis or as needed. Schedules quarterly meetings with them to review the spending and to recommend actions as needed.
  • Provides advice, technical assistance and training as needed to CASE departments to ensure all financial transactions are in compliance with federal and state regulations, and university guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Assists faculty researchers in processing and monitoring grant expenditures to include purchasing contracts, cost transfers, budget modifications, cost sharing compliance, clearing budget exceptions, and other functions related to post-award financial management in collaboration with the Office of Research and Economic Development (ORED).
  • Serves as an effort coordinator for CASE departments as needed, liaising between certifiers and ORED ecert team to help troubleshoot problems with the time and effort certification system.
  • Serves as the University's credit card approver for assigned areas and ensures compliance and adherence to university credit card policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related discipline and two (2) years of experience in related field or Master's degree in related discipline.

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of specialized financial software programs, such as PeopleSoft/Quickbooks
  • Knowledge of Accounting/Financial principles.
  • Knowledge of Advanced features in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication (oral & written skills).
