Overview

Electric Boat Nuclear Engineering Department is seeking a Test Engineer. In this role the Test Engineer will provide material support to engineers and be able to support the resolution of problems associated with the Military/commercial specifications, vendor drawings, shipbuilder drawings/disclosures and liability documents.

The Material Procurement Engineer is responsible for day-to-day troubleshooting of department material issues; the candidate will assist 5 teams of varying functions covering several business areas, including EOH, PSA, and NRMD. Daily functions include assisting the department engineers with material availability, equivalency and part data interpretation. Processing VREQs and VIRs on behalf of the department and working to resolve Z000 Queue and Receipt Inspection Rejection requests. Additionally, the candidate will assist with overseeing the department's material history program and will aid in reviewing material DFs in support of the EOH.



Qualifications

Required:

    High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 2 years of material procurement experience
  • Applicant must possess or be able to secure secret or higher DOD clearance

Preferred:

  • Understanding the Government system for National Stock Number procurements and use of Haystack
  • Engineering, RPPO or Navy supply experience
  • At least 6 years of material procurement experience


Skills

  • Interfacing with other shipyards and Design/Engineering organizations in support of material related issues with resolutions
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read and understand detailed drawings, specifications and reference documents
  • The successful applicant should be familiar with material identification/selection and application processes
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Word)
  • The ability to interpret and respond to Vendor Information Requests (VIR)
  • The ability to initiate technical supplements using MRPII tools
