Job Overview

The Environmental Services Intern supports Macy's, Inc. by conducting technical reviews of documents and contributing to research projects related to environmental compliance and sustainability programs. The intern applies foundational knowledge of environmental compliance and sustainability to real-world initiatives, gaining hands-on experience in a corporate setting.

What You Will Do

• Conduct technical reviews of daily supplemental environmental surveys and related reports.
• Update the environmental database with reports and associated data.
• Identify gaps and opportunities in recycling and waste diversion data to support sustainability initiatives.
• Assist with vendor pre-qualification processes.
• Perform research and support data collection for air and stormwater permitting.
• Contribute research to various environmental compliance and sustainability projects.
• Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
• In addition to the essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned.

Skills You Will Need

Environmental Knowledge: Foundational understanding of environmental compliance, regulations, and sustainability practices.

Research Skills: Ability to conduct in-depth research on environmental topics such as permitting, waste, and air quality.

Analytical Thinking: Capable of identifying data gaps and trends to support sustainability and compliance initiatives.

Written Communication: Strong ability to write clear, concise, and professional technical documents and reports.

Verbal Communication: Effectively communicates findings and ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Attention to Detail: Thorough and accurate in reviewing reports, inputting data, and documenting processes.

Collaboration: Works well with cross-functional teams and supports vendor and stakeholder interactions.

Problem Solving: Identifies opportunities for improvement and supports solutions within compliance and sustainability efforts.

Who You Are

• Candidates studying Environmental Science, Environmental Compliance, Sustainability, or a related science field are encouraged to apply.
• Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
• Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
