Master Process Technician - Entry-LV3

Salary Grade: Hourly

Basic Function:

Responsibility for controlling processes for the one steps operations department . Record data and communicate issues to appropriate personnel.

Essential Function and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for updating Process Books and controlling Processing parameters of all products in the department.
  • Will participate in management of mold change communication to ensure all products are dialed in to correct specs prior to leaving for the day, or that there is a plan to complete the processing of the product prior to handing off to production. Work as part of team with maintenance and machine operators to ensure effective mold change and PM activities are completed.
  • Assist maintenance personnel in completion of regular preventive maintenance activities and mold changes as necessary.
  • Identify and communicate any tooling or machine issues and communicate to appropriate personnel.
  • Identify, troubleshoot and repair issues with product quality with operators.
  • Help train and educate Operators on their Mechanical skills and their understanding of Blow Mold and/or injection molding processes
  • Utilize standard SOPs and WI for new line qualification, and new product qualifications.
  • Actively identify opportunities for improvements in efficiency, safety, effectiveness and timeliness of mold changes and present suggestions to appropriate personnel.
  • Must be able to make Critical Decisions and communicate cause and effects of decision making. Must be able to promote teamwork and enforce compliance of standards in conjunction with the Production Manager of the department.
  • Work alongside and train with Engineering to learn present processes and any new machinery and processes brought into Nicholasville facility.
  • Manage Trial Process for new bottles in production department as a partner to the Production Manager.
  • Participate in Lean/Six Sigma training in order to hold and manage kaizen activities for the production departments along with other MPTs.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area in accordance with Company standards.
  • Follow all GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) as documented in the policy.
  • Follow all established safety rules and guidelines as outlined in the Employee Handbook, and as stated in the various safety-related training programs. Understand and communicate all hazards and safety issues to the appropriate personnel. Properly use all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Manage Technical Content of the Levels Program for Operators / Process Technicians / Shift Technicians. Partner with HR Manager for any updates to training documents.
  • Partner with Production Manager to assist in coordination of department levels training.
  • Partner with Production Manager and Supervisors for the department regarding feedback for operator, shift tech and process tech performance reviews.
  • Must be willing to learn and train on new manufacturing and technical processes as technology advances, to include offsite third party classes when necessary.
  • Some travel may be required.
  • May perform other related assignments at the direction of supervision.

Reporting Relationship: This position reports directly to the Production Manager.

Education/Experience: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the essential functions. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform essential functions.

Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. Prior experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Previous experience operating or maintaining blow-molding and/or injection-molding machines preferred.

Interpersonal Skills: Good written and verbal communications skills are required. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. Incumbent must possess strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.

Technical Skills: Must have strong mechanical aptitude. Incumbent must have own set of basic tools for job. Must complete required training on all machines in order to understand proper mold change procedures. Must be familiar with all sections of Master Process Book. Must be able to use necessary computer applications (including CDM Apriso, SPC, FMS).

Other: Strong organizational skills required. Incumbent must be able to plan own work activities based upon production schedule. Must be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Must be able to work a 12-hour shift schedule. In addition, incumbent must be able to occasionally work past normal shift change to complete mold changes. Incumbent must be willing to demonstrate schedule flexibility as business needs require as well as for coverage for vacations and other absences.

Physical: Must be capable of standing and walking on production floor for length of production shift. Must occasionally squat, bend, kneel, reach, etc., in order to carry out essential functions of the position.
