Key Responsibilities

Program Management

  • Lead the coordination of corporate giving programs, including grants, sponsorships, and employee volunteer initiatives.
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with nonprofit organizations, community partners, and philanthropic foundations.
  • Monitor and report on program outcomes, community impact, and stakeholder feedback.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure all philanthropic activities adhere to legal, financial, and governance standards for public companies.
  • Contribute to ESG disclosures, proxy statements, and annual sustainability reports.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of donations, approvals, and impact evaluations.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner with internal teams (HR, Communications, Legal, Finance) to align giving strategies with business objectives.
  • Inspire employee participation through volunteer programs, giving campaigns, and community events.
  • Represent Sonoco at community meetings, nonprofit events, and industry forums.

Communications & Branding

  • Create compelling content to highlight philanthropic initiatives across internal and external channels.
  • Support storytelling efforts through case studies, social media, and press releases.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Communications to ensure consistent and impactful messaging.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Affairs, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in corporate philanthropy, CSR, or nonprofit program coordination.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Familiarity with ESG frameworks, public company reporting, and grant management systems is a plus.

  • Experience working in or alongside nonprofit organizations.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders with professionalism and discretion.

What you'll be doing:

  • Write clear, engaging, and persuasive copy for various marketing materials, including websites, emails, social media posts, advertisements, and brochures.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop content strategies and ensure consistency in messaging across all channels.
  • Conduct research to understand target audiences, industry trends, and competitive landscape.
  • Edit and proofread copy to ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to brand guidelines.
  • Assist in the creation of content calendars and campaign plans.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions to generate creative ideas and concepts.
  • Monitor and analyze the performance of marketing campaigns to optimize copy and improve engagement.

This position is in our Hartsville, SC location.

  • Prefer Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, English, or a related field.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Strong understanding of marketing principles and best practices.
  • Ability to write in a variety of styles and tones to suit different audiences and platforms.
  • Basic knowledge of SEO and digital marketing techniques.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with content management systems (CMS).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Previous experience in copywriting or content creation is a plus, but not required.

Compensation:

The annual base salary range for this role is from $54,720 to $61,560.
