Summary:

The Financial Analyst is responsible for tracking UNC Health Nash's financial performance against the plan, analyzing business performance and market conditions to create forecasts, and helping senior management make tactical and strategic decisions by providing periodic reports.

Responsibilities:

1. Develops, maintains, and distributes ad-hoc reports and financial models as needed to internal and external clients. Evaluates profit and cost efficiencies in various areas of the organizations as needed.

2. Performs financial forecasting, reporting, and operational metrics tracking. Manages preparation of numerous financial and operational reports for internal (Department Leaders) and external customers incorporating quality and timeliness. Analyzes financial data and creates financial models for decision support.

3. Completes special projects as assigned by Controller and/or CFO.

4. Effectively communicates or collaborates with hospital management in the gathering, analysis, projection and completion of budget data and recommendations, ensuring that time frames are appropriately met, and goodwill is maintained.

5. Ensures that narratives, data, data analyses and graphical representations are accurate and clear in their depiction and conclusions, so that persons reviewing can easily interpret results and can count on the information as being valid.

6. Display expertise and efficiency of financial system applications.

7. Takes an active role in self-development and mentoring other staff as needed.

8. Maintains confidentiality and integrity of Protected Health Information or "PHI" and financial data.

9. Performs other duties as needed.

Education Requirements:

* Bachelors in accounting, finance or related field

Licensure/Certification Requirements:

* None required

Professional Experience Requirements:

* 5 years in recent healthcare experience

* Experience with financial information systems - financial planning, productivity and costing preferred

* Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills as well as strong organizational skills and initiative

* Ability to manage multiple projects with accuracy and timeliness

* Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint) including experience in displaying data in visual ways (charts, graphs, etc)

* Ability to work well with other with a team focus
