Under the direction of the Category Manager, the Merchandising Assistant is responsible for providing support to the Category Management team. Responsibilities * High level of understanding regarding the eCommerce process * Proficiency with computers, especially Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP), PowerPoint, and using the internet as a source of information * Excellent organizational skills * Strong ability to multitask and prioritize/ shift priorities quickly * Communicate with current and potential new suppliers as necessary * Solicit and maintain price and data files for all suppliers * Gather all pertinent information for on-boarding new products and submit components to proper departments * Reconcile at invoice discrepancies and elevate actionable items to the proper category manager * Coordinate the creation, set up, pricing, testing and removal of all vendor promotions, including graphic/content requests, proofing, and site display * Recap results of promotions and provide analysis to the category managers * Price shop competitors and create a competitive market analysis, along with suggested actions * Update pricing systems with changes as directed by manager * Serve as a liaison with other departments to correct any site errors * Source and provide pricing for special orders and price matching requests * Work on projects as assigned * Support CMs to create and execute omni-channel strategies between stores and online Position Performance Measures: * Financial: o Contribute to the Category Manager achieving KPIs for AAG, NOLA, and NAPA Xpress o Gross Profit (Buy/Sell) o Gross Margin (inclusive of all rebates) * Operational: o Promotions process o Invoice discrepancies o New Product Introductions * Customer o Special order quotations o Investigate potential site errors * Support o Create reports for Category Manager in Excel o Build PowerPoint slides as needed Qualifications * Strong administrative skills and time management skills * Excellent Microsoft Office skills * Written and verbal communication skills * Strong basic math skills including profitability measurement Core Competencies * Demonstrate Company values and lead by personal example * Focus on GPC Core Competencies * Commercial acumen * Strategic thinking and planning * Customer oriented * Relationship builder * Communication * Influencing * Collaborative working * Decision making * Analytical thinking Preferred Qualifications * 1-2 Years of Category leadership experience desired, in a fast-paced organization - ideally a multi-site distribution or retail business. * Prior industry is preferred. * Tertiary qualifications in business or related discipline preferred Leadership Physical Demands / Working Environment * Work is performed in a typical office environment and retail store environment. In retail store there may exposure to noise, dust, fumes, or temperature shifts. Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds |
